Trying to improve (get going) a jumps stable so have been transferring my full potential but not best flat horses to get some decent hurdles and breeding potential however I find that the start deteriating so early 5/6 is most before start losing potential plus the jockey often says the horses don't settle no matter what pacifiers I do, is this normal for horses transferred to jumps from flat? Plus they seem very erratic performance wise despite being top quality one race they seem to win a grade 1 easy next they come easily last in a Lower quality novice race any advice welcome please

PS how often should you run horses over a season in jumps on flat I tend to run them 6/7 times a season should it be less in hurdles/chase and how long should you generally give I between races

They deteriorate early because they are flat bred, not NH bred. If you breed for early maturing types on the flat then they will deteriorate early when you transfer them.

Like on the flat ignore the 'horse could have settled better', pacifiers will make the horse more keen like in real life. If you get 'the horse didn't settle' from the jockey then geld it or sell it, they are no good for breeding.

Is it because of the penalty, if they're won a G1 and are then entered in a novice race they'll run with a G1 penalty. Also some game horses improve greatly for going over fences which could be why yours are getting beaten. What kind of ground do they like, are they on the wrong ground? Are you running them over the right type of obstacle? Have you tried giving any of them wind ops in case that is the problem.

Cheers for that had a thought that might have been the case regarding the determination early, so it's basically best to start a jumps game from fresh without transferring horses in from the flat,

Well I transferred mine in from the flat, but then I have late maturing flat horses who aren't at their best until they're 5-6 anyway. It depends upon the lines you have set up. It might be best to start from scratch in your case.
