Post Re: SO6 (Beta) World Record Times
Even with no mods the times are crazy. Have now run 1.06 for 6f in Dubai of all places , 56.8 for 5f at Ascot!!!! and the crazy 14f times I have posted.

Have no idea why the time are so quick in my game as there are no mods in my game as I normally only add them after the game is official.

Post Re: SO6 (Beta) World Record Times
Since any track can be modded (thus our problem), how about we make a perfectly flat, straight track and use that for our records, somebody create a mod that redirects every race and whatnot to this straight, flat track. If you beat it using a non-modded track than props to you, if you don't well we'll have this generic track as the default anyway.

I think if anything this could be an improvement, sure it's not as realistic, but it's fairer, with us all racing on the same straight, flat track nobody would have an advantage or disadvantage, now if only a weather controlling mod could be made to give us only a certain type of track (good/firm) it would be ultimate fairness. Since the straight, flat track is the most ideal situation, by making it the default there is no way somebody could cheat by editing the track further (as far as I know).

I believe though that most people on here are honest, not the types to lie about editing a track. Someone who would lie about this is just a sad individual, there is no money involved, and just absolutely nothing to be gained besides getting your name on a list, which I can't imagine holding much excitement if you know you cheated to do so. I can't see someone getting that sense of achievement when they know what they did to get there was just a lie and that they don't deserve it. It's sad that the game is coming to this, but to insure against cheating I think the only thing that could be done would be the generic track I stated earlier, if everyone has the "unfair advantage" and uses it, it no longer becomes unfair or an advantage, just unrealistic.

You Would be very surprised some of the SO5 record times were set by some making every race a claiming race therefore horses
were carrying at lot less weight so i hear anyway

I dont have any mods in my game now as its a pain reinstalling everything after a patch id say there are a few in the same boat
some would not be keen to install a default track these records are set in game so i have no idea how it would work anyway

im running jamies mod but don't think I will be putting up any more times as it can leave you open to false accusations(as some of the ingame times im seeing are ridiculous) will probably just wait for the league to start when we are all on a level playing field and running at the same track.hopefully mark will have put something in place so theres no suspicion on anyone

Post Re: SO6 (Beta) World Record Times
I just reinstalled the game fresh a week ago and have no mods whatsoever, one of my 3yo fillies just won the St George 1m4f in 2.25 flat! and it is not even a star horse (unless 85% potential bar is now a great horse?) but i have to say I am having a lot more fun with the way the game is playing, I do not always win. I am sure if my filly ran that time there are star horses destroying it

I am not saying this should be the only solution, hopefully there will be better ones by the time the game is fully released. It's certainly not ideal at all, but if it is the only way we can be sure nobody is cheating when all is said and done, it's one of the options that can be taken. It would remove unfair modding. The only other thing I could think of would be if mark had both the track shape and the topography of it on the results screen. Something in his coding that was not made available to us (like adding legends for example), that would create a mini map of the track in the game, so we could see if any of the hills had been removed, or any of the turns edited. It would be a hassle and there may be better ideas, but unless it's league where we know everything track-wise is equal, it'll be difficult.

Out of curiosity, how quick is this time compared to some others?

the issue with comparing times is that the better your computer, the faster the race will be run. by this logic someone could be breeding horses 1,000,000 times better than yours, but if they were running them on an old machine their times would appear to be godawful, and vice versa.... someone could have some truly godawful horses, but if they were running them on a better machine their times might appear to decimate yours. The only way to accurately compare, is to download some of the other players' horses, and race your horses against them.

The game is throttled to 60 frames per second. It does not matter how fast your PC is it won’t go above 60 so it’s the same for all PC’s. It could be that machines that cannot maintain the recommended 60 fps are having slight variations in times due to the way the floating point calculations and timing is handled.

I think the issue is though that a lot of us aren't getting 60 fps. I know my top ever was 40, on the lowest settings, and this is on a brand new $700 laptop. Now, while it is a laptop and does not have the same power as a desktop by default, I imagine a lot of people here may also have it on laptop if they attend college/university or just desire something portable. If that laptop isn't brand new/good quality they're gonna be doing equal to or worse than I am.

So it's more the issue that many of us don't get to 60 fps, it would be nice if there was a way to lock the game at 30 fps as an option (since I believe most people could hit 30 on the lowest settings) that way, when locked, comparing times would be possible.
