Here is a mod that moves away from thoroughbred racing and moves to standardbred racing. The complete (well kinda) US Harness racing calender along with the top 50 trainers and drivers in the US. All showcase races are 1 mi (couldn't make maidens/claimers/allowances/selling races 1 mile, but they are 1 mi or less). Some top Harness tracks like Meadowlands, Yonkers, The Red Mile, and Parx are included.
Note: There are no heats/qualifiers. There isn't a real way to do this in SO5 so I left them out. Also, the horses in game are still thoroughbreds. I'm not good enough to create harness race graphics, however if someone could make them, that would be greatly appreciated.

Now I know harness isn't all that popular on these forums, however, for those that may not want to play a harness schedule, there is a plus side to this schedule; it is difficult. Since almost all races a 1 mi, you need to build your barn around that distance and breeding needs to be planned even more than usual. Consider this a challenge.

In order to use, back up original files and then copy and past new files into their respective folders (Data>Harness into the Data>"Country Folder" folder, Gfx>Portraits>Harness into the Gfx>Portraits>"Country Folder" folder, and Gfx>Race>tracks_harness into the Gfx>Race>tracks# folder.

Hooray for chariot racing!

Was looking at the trainer file - Do you or anybody else out there know what the number before the attached jockey to trainer means?

From the default UK schedule...

I think the Number is to allocate a Certain Jockey silk to Trainer/Jockey Combination like Goldophin and Dettori you can find these in GFX TABLES BMP the ones that have 0 means no silks allocated to the combination.

I love harness racing.... this is a great attempt to give the sport a second look. I would love to see the actual graphics and movement in the game. Its a sad shame that may never happen. I would be the first in line to purchase it no matter the price. Starters Orders is a great game but if it ever adds the harness racing side of the sport it would be above all.

Don't really like harness racing but agree that it would give starters orders another big boost as im sure theres alot of harness racing fans out there

I like this. I'm really into harness racing! I was thinking about making a mod with an Europe schedule, with all big races including group II and III races. However I'm not sure how to make such a mod. Is there any guide for this on the forum. I know it is somewhere, or atleast I can remember there was one. Can't seem to find it though!

Also it looks like I can't figure out to install this mod. What do you mean with "country folder"?

Folder 1, 2, 3, or 4 (depending on which folder you want)... 2 would be the best as that is US... but i know some people might want to keep the original US schedule to play along side the harness game.

Got the mod working, however it seems to crash very often

Hmmmmm... I know there are times when it does crash (has happened to me) due to field sizes but it shouldn't crash too often. Just give it time. I know the first few times I ran the game with it it crashed but the fourth time was the charm (and gave me a wonderful miler that won the Hambletonian, amongst other great races). So hopefully it starts to work for you too!!

I keep on trying, since I really wanted this kind of mod. However it keeps crashing, I don't seem to get passed the month May....

If you can narrow it down to a few days where it crashes, then I could see where the error could be.

I have been checking it out for a few hours right now. It seems to happen anywhere in the season. In all occasions when skipping days. I ran 1 game and just save like every month. In 3-4 years I crashed like 4 times, so once every season. It doesn't play comfortable to save every month, and therefore drops my motivation to play for a longer period.
