World Cup
With five days to go, what's everyone's thoughts on the World Cup?
Potential winners? Dark horses? Top scorers?

Re: World Cup
Haha, my thoughts on potential winner and dark horse are exactly the same!
Winner: Argentina (probably the best overall squad, an easy group and a possible continental/climate advantage)
Dark Horse: Belgium (the bookies currently have them as fifth favourites, ahead of the likes of France, Italy, England, Portugal and Netherlands, so perhaps not strictly speaking a 'dark horse', but I've put them in this category as they're not one of the traditional powerhouses of world football - they have a great squad and an easy group)
Top Scorer: Higuain (Argentina) or Lukaku (Belgium) - both have the potential to pick up a few early tournament goals in easy groups

Re: World Cup
Winner: Germany Dark Horse: Belgium Top scorer: Not too sure, so many players capable of scoring lots of goals, but as others have said maybe Lukaku. Also maybe Podolski,(only cause I'm a Arsenal man...)

Re: World Cup
Exactly 24 hours (+ 5 mins!) to go before kick-off... will Brazil dominate the opener, or will Croatia provide a scare?
I think Croatia might provide a brief scare, but I predict Brazil to come through the first match fairly easily, maybe 3-1.

Re: World Cup
Winner - Spain / Argentina / Germany Dark Horse - Belgium / Uruguay / Holland Top Scorer - David Villa / Aguero / Suarez / VanPersie
Spain Germany have the usual solid strength in squads. Spain for me has more magic to win matches and tournaments and the modern tactical games, Germany are technically strong but lack the flair
creativity magic of say Argentina's Aguero, Uruguay have Suarez and underrated Diego Forlán who has score 6 more goals in the world cup than populists Messi who has not scored in last Worldcup! For me bookies always over rate Brazil lol
i bet on
Spain 13-2 Winners Suarez 25-1 TGS David Villa TGS 80-1 ew

Predictably, the match ended up being 12 vs. 11, with the referee strongly favouring the hosts, but Brazil were the better team overall and deserved the win. I must admit though, I went into the match looking forward to watching Brazil play and seeing them do well in their home World Cup... by the end of the match though, I was cheering for Croatia and thinking about who might hopefully beat Brazil in the last 16 or last 8! I don't think Brazil did themselves any favours with neutral fans this evening.
