For example I've had numerous 7 furlong horses but in reality they'd be more suited to the Ascot Gold Cup than the Jersey Stakes.

Lol! I would say yes but I have had some serious anomalies when breeding. Best advice is breed your best with the best and cross your fingers. All my 1m4f horses breed together and keep producing 1m2f horses and I am losing the stamina line. And like you I am getting some odd out and out stayers but they have bad stats in other areas, usually potential not been passed on.

I'm playing the US schedule (Start It's mod) and whilst trying to bred 7, 8 & 9 furlong horses nearly every one needs 12 furlongs plus. It's ideal if I want to win the Belmont Stakes, Arc & Japan Cup etc but not much use for the day to day racing in the US.
