Hi Gray
Is race 27 an Open Listed or a Listed with a max of 100?
If a max of 100 then you'll have to scratch Hans' horse with a rating of 101.

Reasonable assumption, max rated G1 makes little sense to me.

Just a Note on Newcomers this season Jango - Came in halfway and blitzed it & Regularly enters horses Aidan Murphy - 90 runs Regularly enters horses Satchel Stevens - 14 runs all season not entered for ages Jessica Tugwell - 32 runs all season 4 horses never made a start Manuel Villagran - 32 runs 2 horses never made a start may have given up Ted Bosch - Quit after week 1 Ryan Burgess - Quit after week 1 Whether you see that as a success or a failure to keep new trainers interested i will leave that to you.

Re: ATTENTION SCRATCHED RUNNERS P RHODES, JANGO. THUNDERSPAR
We know it is hard for new trainers joining the league. All thoses monsters who won 20+ G1 races are suddenly only 0-80 horses in the league. We have been trying to introduce more lower level races, but some new trainers comming into the league are expecting to win group races. Maybe when SO7 comes along it will level the playing field for a little while.
I know when I first joined the league back in SO4 days, I only lasted about half a season, but it made me more determined to succeed and I searched the forums for any help I could find and asked what now seems like a lot of stupid questions. I don't recall seeing most of those who have given up asking their own Newbie questions. Perhaps we need to gather together more usefull guides and sticky the topics to make it easier for newbies. I know many of us have posted about the things we do but these posts are lost among dozens of other posts and are hard to find.
I think the league is better organised now than it has ever been.
I know my breeding methods are not universally approved by many trainers because I use ttf files, but I would be willing to try and write some guides if they could be stickied and they were not ridiculled by other trainers so that Newbies are not discouraged.

Jim without doubt the majority of trainers use the ttf system you simply have to to be competitive anything you post will be appreciated by newbies and i will sticky it.

Re: ATTENTION SCRATCHED RUNNERS P RHODES, JANGO. THUNDERSPAR
I think this sounds good, Jim. I also believe that it is smart to have like an introduction to the league. Where newcomers can read and can get to know what to expect when they first enter. I had read a lot about the league before I joined and was prepared that my horses would get hammered, but I became pleasantly aware that there was races for all levels of horses and i felt my first season was a success and way more than I expected.
Not all of us know enough about racing and how schedules work, but a light introduction and encouragement that you start out in the 0-70, 0-80 segment and hoping to evolve during season would be great. Then new trainers will then know that Group wins is out of reach at the start, but the learning is great and the community is so warm and friendly.
Because of you guys who are always willing to share, it makes it possible for people like me to actually have a chance in this league.
Like follis' guide to the NH. It has help me a lot in how to prepare a stable for next season. before I read that I had no clues. And before I joined the first season i had no clues how to set up a stable. I just chucked in a bunch of horses, and soon found out that I had very few 2yo, stayers and some other distance horses. But I also had realistic expectations of what to achieve and I had not quit even though i would have struggled for a win.
So guides and how to manage expectations would probaly help a lot.

Race 36 was mage Max Rating 100 Because R23 Breeders Cup 1m 4f same distance has a min 90 and allowed 2 entries guess I could go back to no min and 1 entry so the top guys can run In both. Gray

Re: ATTENTION SCRATCHED RUNNERS P RHODES, JANGO. THUNDERSPAR
jim i dont think anyone will ridicule you as there are many different ways to breed its not an exact science i was speaking to john and we have different methods as do thunder pj and yourself.if you do a guide it might be helpful if other trainers could add thier ways of breeding as well.it was a long time before i became aware of tff files.also as regards trialling i keep my 2yos on a seperate hdb file which helps a lot as long as you remember you have two files and keep a backup of both.

I agree very much. I was intending to add a novice tips section to the "How to join the League" with links to posts i found useful as well as some info about what to expect, like being thrashed in the first two weeks of the maidens. There is a learning curve for the League, especially if you dont have much knowledge of horse racing like me. If you want to add info to my post let me know otherwise a new sticky is a great idea.

Re: ATTENTION SCRATCHED RUNNERS P RHODES, JANGO. THUNDERSPAR
I think the first season is the most important to grab newbies, they will be closer to the leaders and so they think they have a chance to keep up. I think it's vital that we don't wait 2 years to start a league, we need it quick because that's when most people will be playing the normal game. I'm not sure why newbies don't come into the forums, we have never heard from jess even though she just won her first race. If u join in on the forums u more than likely going to get involved and stay around.
