It happens quite often Paul. I have had horses win races when they get pulled up.
If you watch a race where the horse gets pulled up, it takes a horse about 50 yards to stop moving, so if the horse is injured near the end of a race and has a big enough lead which your horses probably do, they can still be successfull. Most of my horses probably win by 10 - 20 lengths so yours probably do the same. With that kind of lead, even an injured horse can crawl over the finish line.
It is more common in the NH side of things when the last fence is very close to the finish line.
