Hi,

Thank you for replying so quickly.
The Moscow Flyer and the Lawlor don't appear twice in the feature races db file. But they do appear, and are raced for, twice in the game itself, about a week apart in each case.
At Naas, from the 2m 4f start in my game, the horses perform a pronounced figure S shortly after the start, then rebound from the second hurdle, jump the first in reverse and then the right way again, then the race settles down as normal. If only seen this before in the race creator when the startpoint and the race distance don't match.

Hmmm... the 2m4f hurdles should start in front of the stands correct? I have had a look but don't see any errors. I think that one of the waypoints has gone out of place in your map file.

Im not sure if im going to blend in my UK schedule or not yet, but if I don't and I use this I will 100% be going in and removing all the low end handicaps from the features races. This is unnecessary clutter that will just slow the game down for no reason at all

In my UK jumps schedule, I have kept only the feature races and high-end handicaps... the kind of handicaps that the game engine does not generate.

It's been a while since I've downloaded any schedules so I'm sure I've ballsed it up somewhere. But I've downloaded the 2 files from the first post for the beta. I've extracted them to to relevant folders. When I load up to start a new game I select the Start It mod. As soon as I do that, the game just crashes and closes on me?

Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong  Are there any additional files I need to download?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: Just had a quick read back for a couple of pages and realised you are aware of this issue. I've seen someone mention about keeping the original British courses so I will put them back in and see if that works.

Edit2: I've put the original course files back in and it is fine. I select jumps game and selected jump legends. It loads up and has the jumps legends in the game but all my horses are flat horses and the schedule is all for flat?

The youtube video did say: put all the files to the mods directory, instead of replacing the original files.

I'm not sure if others have experienced this but I have found that only the 'db' files work from the 'mods' folder.

I've deleted the Naas file in the courses folder and copied in the one from the download again. Its fine now, thank you.
The two novices hurdles I mentioned ARE entered twice in the new fj schedule, and even appear on the in-game diary twice. I've deleted the version of both that isn't included on each course's big January meeting using Notepad, but are still appearing in the game. I'm not right across the file system for this game. You own Combined UK schedule looked ideal for my purposes, but I failed to get it to run. Which I'm sure is my own fault.

mjtags11 - Could you check whether some of the Irish jumps races had been entered twice into the UK mixed schedule? The main Irish jumps races were already in my UK jumps schedule... it looks as though you may have added them again from the Irish jumps schedule when you were creating the mixed schedule.
Likewise, the main UK jumps races are in the Irish jumps schedule.
Sorry not to have mentioned that when uploading to you.

Yeah the jumps game is spot on mate, it's the uk flat that needs a lot removing. No 0-70 betfred handicap around lingfield should be classified as a feature race. It would be ok if the game could handle capacity, but it can't so it's easy to see which races want chopping.

TBH my UK flat schedule would fit well into this mod full stop if you want MJ? I think the one that is currently in the pack as things stand is a bit problematic, so drop me a message if you want mine. It's heavily tried and tested, however it's the 2018 season, not the 2019 season. The US stuff and jump stuff is all on point in the mod :D

New installation video is up, it's very easy and the instructions on the first post are easy to follow. The old video is totally wrong for this version so I went and updated too.

Hi Bobsworth,

The question I haven't tried to answer that you posed, was how the void race situation fared after a few seasons.
I'm in June 2023. I haven't had a Cheltenham Festival.
The Arkle at the Leopardstown Trials meeting has been three void races so far. A recent meeting (it was a "bumping into", really) at Clonmel had five void and two walk over races.
And there are more than two races being contested twice. Something appears to have gone wrong with your schedule since you last saw it.
I'm not sure an in-depth UK and Ireland combined schedule is a neat fit for a world-wide schedule that has regular features from Switzerland and Spain.
There just aren't enough horses to go round.
I like the lower grade handicaps, by the way. Some very good young horses in both codes in England and Ireland graduated through nondescript 0-100 handicap hurdles. Slow-developing future chasers in particular can't always compete in graded races at five and six with better-furnished two mile specialists.

This issue should be fixed in the next update. The world pool of horses ended up being too low (forgot to change it before uploading) which led to some issues later on. This seems to have been fixed. In addition, the new combined schedule is a bit more contained on the flat side, which ended up taking away horses from the jumps side. There will be some lower level races (which I prefer as well, which is why I wrote the schedule to include them -- they would've been generated by the game automatically anyway, but looks cooler when they mimic real life) but are now 100 plus rating in UK and 80 plus rating in Ireland (based on balance of handicaps) and elimination of featured maidens and claimers (these will only be game generated).

The combined schedule is always tricky since it really relies heavily on the game AI to balance things out. It will be a work in progress for a few iterations, since it does have a lot of moving parts.

The flat only schedule will remain the same, so all the lower level races will remain there.

mjtags - Sky Pink had spoken about duplicated Irish jumps races in the UK schedule. I had included individual Irish feature races in the jumps schedule but it seems that you have duplicated them with a full card e.g. the Lawlors Novice Hurdle at Naas is run on 2 January and then (with the full card) on 9 January. You should be able to find them all by running a search of races run at Punchestown, Fairyhouse, Gowran Park, Clonmel, Galway, Limerick, Navan and Naas.

With the Cheltenham races, the old and new courses are different in nature (the old course is sharper than the new course) which is why I split them. The schedule I submitted works better with them split. I noticed that although you merged the Cheltenhams on the schedule file, you hadn't merged them on the featureracesJumps file... which is why they are not appearing in the game.

If you still prefer to use the merged course, I'm supplying a folder which contains:
a new 'racecourses.dat' file that lists Cheltenham_new, Cheltenham_old (with different course characteristics) and Cheltenham (old and new courses merged),
a featureracesJumps and schedule file for the merged Cheltenham

Thank you for taking this trouble. From my own point of view, I think if you download a beta you should provide what feedback you can. I use the combined game to get three and four year-olds ready to go hurdling. So handicaps a 65-rated four-year-old has a chance in an important element of my game. Like the little races, and working on a moderate horse's career.
So, it's all on the right track for me.I know that you are both improving the game on its released form.
Just as a thought, and given the number of horses who enter the game as five year-olds in chases, whether you could re-classify or mkae some suitable beginners chases at country tracks in Ireland as point-to-points. It need only be cosmetic, for realism. Hunter chases seem to be less frequent than they were.

Bobsworth,

I have downloaded and installed these files, and I have a Cheltenham Festival.
Brilliant!
The run-in on the hurdles course is a bit sharp...about 15 strides from the last. I wondered if that was a rogue winning post?
The rest is as good as I've seen. Thank you again.
Do you have a standalone version of this combined schedule?
I'll not be like this after beta-testing, don't worry.

You hit upon another reason why the two Cheltenhams should be separated: there are five courses on Cheltenham and four of them need an end chute. But the course editor only allows for two end chutes. So I had to let the hurdles races finish at the start of the end chute i.e. just before the turn into the back straight. And it means the 2m4f hurdle races don't start in that middle section of the track.
I keep a flat, mixed and jump schedule of my own but it is predominately UK with some Irish and French. Unfortunately the jumps schedule crashes right at the beginning. I was thinking of releasing it but was undecided about whether to confine it to a European schedule or make it a world schedule but minus USA.
Glad you like how Cheltenham looks.

Sky Pink - greatly appreciate all the comments. Like you said, it's a Beta so nows the time to send in feedback. That was the goal of this for me. While I do some testing on my end, it's impossible for me to test everything as thorough as y'all since that requires playing through each schedule, which takes a lot of time. So this helps me find any errors and also helps me get things formatted in a way that works best for everyone. This is the first time I've ever added jumps into the Start It pack - a huge thank you again to Bobsworth for his work on that side of the game. So I'm still learning some things about getting jumps to work right (flat I usually have down pretty well).

Bobsworth- the single Cheltenham in my release is more of a personal preference to keep only one version of a course active. I've had multiple versions before, but it was very odd and annoying when the game would generate racing dates and both of the courses appeared on the same day.

I did fix the combined schedule to remove any duplicates (same is true for jumps only) and added in some jumps races that were missing. Going to run a quick rest later today and should have that released shortly after.
