Re: SO7 SEASON 2 Trials Day 1 9PM UK
Firstly thanks to Gray for the running of these trail races and to Martin for some awesome comms as always. Very much appreciated gents.
Very interesting trails with lot's of positives to take away from and some eye catching performances. My flat team as i thought is much better than last season and it will continue to get better, looking at my jumpers I know the areas I'm lacking quality in.
Most of these horses running today are still in my game racing or have just been enter to the breeding barn. Given that the league is 2 months away I've time to advance my lines even more.
Race 1Completely the wrong horse i sent to Gray and didn't really check before i sent the email. That got me off to a great start
Should have been Dis Continued and not Continued Ride which is a 1m1f 2yo. Funnily enough the one i should have entered is a real classy 2yo. Oh well will have to wait for Trail day 2 if we get a similar distance.
Race 2Crafty Customer - Very pleased with this result and it shows I've moved on from last seasons 2mH, could be even better as a 7yo. He's just come into the breeding barn and expecting some nice offspring from him. Not sure his father Universal Rule will be back next season even though he's still good as an 8yo. I've another mare who beats him at home so I'm excited to have some strong 2mH for next season and my novices will be equally as good I hope.
Race 3Sequel Eclipse - This was a strange run race to see my filly taking up the running which she doesn't do in any of my trails at home. Only thing i can think of was the pace wasn't great at all. She's an absolute freak of a 2yo at home and not sure i'll get a better one for the start of season 2. Right now she's still racing in my game at 4 so cannot wait to get some pairings with her. Her mother is Fable Master my favorite flat horse last season.
Race 4Undisclosed Talk - Still a lot of work to do with my 3m chasers. I'm getting so many mixed results and the trailing of this distance is a nightmare. I've time to hopefully find a few and aim for that elusive GOLD CUP . What I may do is branch off and spend a few weeks solely on this distance. But then again, I just need to be patient I'm sure some will come around.
Race 5Arthurz Pass - Was kind of expecting better to be honest. This distance of 1m6+ is work in progress and hopefully i'll be thereabouts come season 2. Not been a distance I've really had the time to focus on, but it will be over the coming weeks.
Race 6 Intiale Legacy - Nice 4th place finish, few mistakes late on and jockey holding him up to long. Have quite a few 3mH which takes it in turns to win in my trails. This tells me to stick with the 8yo. Happy with my 3mH team at home and will have some promising novices next season.
Race 7Snurge Council - My best sprinter at home and he won it very well, he has that rare finishing kick for a sprinter you need. I've also another older mare at 6 who can beat him on soft ground. He's just had his first 2yo come to the racecourse. If they have any of his finishing kick I'll be very happy to see what they are like in my trails. Cannot wait to see what he produces. Really as become one of my favorite horses.
Race 8Dawn Arisen - Very pleasing finish and he stays 1m4f very well too. Think I've better at home and he's a machine as a 5yo so will see what happens over the coming weeks. Got a 3yo filly who's very good and loves Newmarket. Could have some live classic contenders for next season.
Race 9Poetic Baroness - One area in my trails i'm not happy with. This was a good sign i'm on the right path, will be tough to beat Leon's older horses around this distance from last seasons showing. I do have a new 3yo who as just smashed all my current 1m4f horses and on average is 2L better than what I've had previously.
Race 10Cheekz Gold - Little on the short side for her today. 2m5f is her trip and maybe a little further. Comes alive around Cheltenham. Not a fan of this course at all. Be nice to have some trails over jumps at the likes of Cheltenham, Aintree, Punchestown or Auteuil. Will show what we all really have in regards to festival horses.
Race 11Merovingian - So happy to see this mare get her head in front. This is probably my strongest division over jumps, not sure she's even in my top 5 at home but i just love the name and had some much fun in the game racing her. Loves Sandown and Cheltenham. Will probably need dryer ground Good or G/S. But looking at this soft is fine.
Race 12Shameful Junkie - Changed this horse at the last minute for mainly some experimenting reasons. Needs further that 2m3f which was raced at today. This distance throws up so many mixed results for me, but on this evidence it's not looking to bad at all. I've much better at home and is one of those distances i'm seeing improvements all the time.
