Post The League
I've noticed the league hasn't run for a while.

I can get everything ready if there is an interest. At present I am using ai to automate everything so the only staff we would need would probably be commentators.

Handicapping will have to be automated so the race kit will have to do.

Plan is to upgrade current ancient tech from 2015 used on the site to modern versions.. Database has already been migrated to be self contained so its no longer tied to the forum. Backend has already been upgraded and fully tested. Frontend needs a full rewrite as its so old but with ai that doesn't take long. The race sorter app needs a rewrite its in java 8 which is ancient. This will all probably be done in a couple of days. Need to swap over to a different operating system as well as the one currently used is end of life

Then need to create the automation which will run the races and upload them to youtube. Someone will need to figure out how to add commentary for this.

League can start in 3-4 weeks. Hopefully I can get the automation working. ( the recording of the race and uploading to YouTube is easy with a simple python script) Hard part may be getting a script to run all the races. If it all works we won't need any staff so no race runners no handicappers etc. Just someone to coordinate things and maybe some commentators.

Post below if you want a league to start in 3-4 week and have any comments. Have fixed the email service so will email everyone who took part in the past if there is enough interest.

Like John Unlikely to buy s08 so could be last league for me we need trainers who is going to take part to let Leon know see how many we got.

Moving away from race runners is the way forward and AI gives us more options to have a few commentators so come on post if you want so8 to have a online league going forward.

I'm in if we can get something sorted.

Might need more than 4 weeks to drum up enough interest and other players but the sooner we can get things moving. the better

I'm happy to help out with any promoting we want to do to get things moving and will also happily return to the comms box if wanted.

Post Re: The League
Great news.

My little trial site has a few new trainer who i'm sure are interested, and I will publish a news notice with "soon coming" and date once sorted. Was never meant to replace the league, I dont want that responsibility haha.

Happy to send through some of the automations i have programed. I've got it to download race details, open SO kit add horses and details (including typing the name the worse bit when a RR). Also got AI to write race previews each time a horse is added to a race, random 'tipsters' and race results

I've just tidied up my handicap system yesterday, so if you want to look over it you can.

Happy to share all files via email or github which ever is easiest.

Also if you need to host the site on a different forum, I can help. I have 4 sites running on Hostinger and never had any server downtime

Thanks if I run into issues I will reach out. Your site looks very good. Maybe you can take over from me at some point

Site has been rewritten and modernized. database no longer external and forum was down loads last year affecting db. Big that as everything is very fast. All league stuff is automated weather, lucky63 changing weeks, processing races etc. Previews auto generated pretty basic but can be edited if someone wants to write something better. Historical data added for stables

Races get run with shell and python scripts. Script is done for running races, recording races, keeping hrs file up to date getting text files uploaded etc

Took way quicker than expected. Hopefully will spin the new site up sometime next week just want to dry run some races. But no admin will be required next season except having a race kit and clicking a button to start the process that runs, records , uploads and keeps races hidden until time to show them arrives. Commentators can probably add commentaries at some point as races will probably all be complete by Saturday morning

I will probably run with kubernets with a few containers so there is unlikely to eb downtime as the ancient ubuintu isgetting destroyed when i upload the updated site

No thank you (in regards to running) haha. I enjoyed my project but dont need it.

Sounds amazing. Like I said cutting down the admin for all to make it easier to run a season was my goal too. It's amazing how much can be done with AI, I've built 2 working websites for my wive's business, the SO trials, and I've been making a pixel art game. All in between fulltime job and 3 kids under 7. I have a solid computer background but wouldnt have been able to do all this as fast 6 months ago.

I'll post on the site now so people have time to get ready.

Just a note if you happen to be a new trainer don't sign up yet. I have already cloned the database ( 4 days ago ) anything added after that will be ignored as the link to the old sql will be ended once I deploy the new site and will use the cloned database.

Will post when the new site is ready

I'll definitely be in. Might need to see where my horses are after their dreadful running in recent trials

Post Re: The League
Any chance of a few changes to the race schedule this season?

I’ve got a few suggestions:

Flat

I’d like to see separate 3yo maiden races for colts and fillies in Week 1 and Week 2:

1m2f colts-only maiden
1m4f colts-only maiden
Same for fillies only maidens across the same weeks

I don’t think colts and fillies should be meeting before the Classics, and splitting them would also help produce clearer form for the Classic trials too.

Week 2

There are three 5f 2yo races but no 7f option.
I’d suggest changing one of the 5f maidens to 7f

Week 2
There are three 1m handicaps, including the R28 0–100.

I’d like to see the 0–100 handicap reduced to a 0–70 or 0–80. and should make the Lincoln more competitive
Not sure the G1H Doncaster Handicap helps too. The Doncaster Handicap and also the Queen of the Turf Stakes, and AJC Q.E Stakes being at Randwick, could potentially be moved to Week 3, and could swap them with the maidens in Week 3

NH

I had these suggestions too, but was also trying to remove races too with the workload, but do we need to do this now, with AI doing alot

Week1

Hurdles

Change one of the 2m hurdles to 2m1
Remove one of the 2m4 hurdles, still have 3 maiden races from 2m3 to 2m5, then
Remove one of the 3m hurdles, still 2 maiden races at 3m/3m1
Change Galway Hurdle to G3

Novice hurdles

Change one of the 2m hurdles to 2m1

Chases

Remove one of the 2m1 chases, still be 2 races from 2m/2m1
Change 2m6 chase to 2m5
Add a 3m3 Maiden, another option for 3m2.5f gold cup horses
Change Galway Plate to G3

Novice Chases

Change one of the 2m to 2m1
Change one of the 2m4 to 2m5 or 2m3 ,already have a 2m4 race
Change one of the 3m to 3m1
Remove the 3m2 , no other novice races over 3m1

3 races freed up, taking it to 36

Change the sharp tracks at Taunton and Hereford, I don't think these are a good idea for maidens

Week 2 NH

Hurdles

Tipperary Hurdle G2 is a G3 irl
Two 2m2 hurdle handicaps, maybe remove one

Chases

Listed and G3 3m chase, maybe remove one. There is the Charlie Hall chase too at 3m1

4m and 4m2 chase maidens, maybe remove one and just have a 4m1 maiden

Novice chases

Two 2m1 chases change one to 2m

Juv hurdles, there are two 2m1 hurdles, remove one, maybe just have the maiden

Four Races freed up, taking it to 36 like week 1

Like I said, maybe not remove so many races now though if AI is doing alot of the work

More here viewtopic.php?f=16&t=21454
Seems all stopped after week 4, but sure, we can all go through other weeks too, and more threads on this too
It would be good if we could make some changes to the schedule

If not, no worries, just can we at least change the 2m4 race at Perth
