Duke I have just read this post and I am gutted. I am lost for words, what can anyone say? I had a few crashes early on when the access violation was popping up, and, trying to urge yourself back into the game is bloody hard. I feel for you.

Makes me sick. I know you were pleased with your crop this year. Sorry to hear this mate. You will be back though!

Unfortunately, Windows restore will only recover programme settings, not saved files, etc.

Have you tried any one of the vast number of tools that enable you to recover deleted files? When you delete files from your computer they aren't actually deleted and can be fully recovered but the longer you leave it the harder it is to get them back. You could try http://www.tech-pro.net/uneraser.html

I have, but despite me being able to see them they are unable to be recovered.
Thanks anyway.

Well I do feel gutted for you mate as I know what this is like. Back in SO3 I lost my game due to a hard drive failure, I started again and had a second hard drive failure, I should have learnt my lesson the first time but I didn't expect a new drive to fail almost immediately. Now I have three hard drives on my rig and triple back up just in case. I do hope you give it another go, sometimes it pays off with better bloodlines early on.
