Post Stable Tour of Leedham Towers - Flat
Quick look at the inmates at Leedham Towers whilst we still have some hope and enthusiasm. Should be good for a laugh later in the season when they are all on the beach at Blackpool. But hey ho lets go ......

The operation is into its 23rd season so still pretty new compared to the big guns who have got through a century or two. Too late to play catch up really but will be good practice for S07. Main game is a combine and didn't start breeding until about season 8 so we are only a few generations in but already dominating the single player game. Hopefully S07 will be harder because every horse I have uploaded is a multiple grade/group one winner but from perusing the beasts some people have in other thread they will be trailing the tails most of the season in the league. A second US game runs alongside but is only 8 seasons old and hasn't produced much and I recently started a second combined game to try and fast track a few chasers as I didn't have many.

Flat.

2yo

Cat Power f (Smokey and the Miracles - Catwoman) 5 furlong speed machine that barely stays 6f but landed Cheveley Park and Queen Mary double amongst unbeaten 2yo season. Won on Good - Good to Firm. Suprisingly beat her dam out in trials. Chance of win 5/10

Second Sight f (Flavours - Gladly Go Blind) Another unbeaten horse who is currently in her 3yo season in main game. Another surprise trials winner. Won on Good to Soft - Good to Firm. Sire and Dam both won over 10f so should stay. 7/10

Getting Tighter c (Come Taste The Band - Gladly Go Blind). Champion 2yo colt won on Good to Soft - Good to Firm by Guineas/Derby winner out of Eclipse winning mare. Stays 10f. Not as tough as half sister Second Sight. 6/10. (Just noticed I have 2 2yos out of same mare which is technically impossible. Neither entered in week 1 so if not allowed please advise and I will replace one.)

Slow Southern Style f (Come Taste The Band - Black Velvet) Another champion 2yo who ran for 3 seasons and reemained unbeaten taking all major mile races at 3 and 4. Entered here as 2yo. By Derby/Guineas winner out of Queen Mary/Lowther winner. Good battler won on all ground from Soft - Firm and on dirt. One of main hopes for a win 8/10

Purple Records c (Come Taste The Band - Catwoman) Another CTTB colt out of top sprinter who exceeded expectations in trials. Won Royal Lodge and Racing post at 2 went on to land Guineas, Derby, Juddmonte and Breeders Cup at 3 on Good to Soft - Good to Firm and Dirt. Won out tough trials division. Half brother to Cat Power. Should hopefully pick up a minor race 8/10

Blue Soul f (Smokey and The Miracles - Flemi Blue) All about speed, by a guineas winner who barely stayed a mile out of US sprinter who transferred into main game and won Nunthorpe (in team as 5yo). Followed Quuen Mary/ Cheveley Park route and was unbeaten at 2. Won on Soft - Good to Firm. Should have been entered as a 3yo but idiot trainer uploaded wrong file. Too late to replace as entered in Week 1. 2/10

3yo

You Keep On Moving c (Come Taste The Band - Gonna Find A Miracle) Surprise winner of 3yo miler trials. Dam and sire both won guineas, sire went on to Derby win, dam to Champion Hurdle. Should stay 10/12f but untried in main game. Won on Good - Good to Firm 4/10

No Good Luck c (Come Taste The Band - Lucky Daughter) Dual Derby winner out of Ribblesdale winner. Won on Good - Good to Firm. Still active in main game. Unexpected trials winner and not expecting too much 3/10

This Is The Day f (Come Taste The Band - Completely Free) Oaks winner out of unexceptional but well bred mare. In as 3yo but won all major 10f races at 4/5 including Breeders Cup on ground ranging from Good to Soft - Good to Firm and Dirt. 7/10

Janis Joplin f (Moonshine - Lady Sings The Blues) Very speedy filly by champion miler out of champion 2yo who was by another very fast horse Smokey and The Miracles. Won out strong 3yo fillies mile trial with exceptional performances. Still only 3yo in main game. Won all races to date including all major 2yo and 1000 Guineas. May drop down to sprint distances. Won on Soft and Good only. 5/10

Chloe Annet f (Come Taste The Band - Kochanski) Out of a French Guineas winner. Is tough as old boots and won 2 guineas, Coronation, Sussex, QE2 and Hong Kong mile in 3 seasons of racing, only being beaten 3 times despite having unexceptional bars. Not sure what to expect but showed well in trials and deserves chance. Stays 9f. Won on Good - Good to Firm and Dirt. 4/10

Mona The Groaner f (Mark The Book - Kakemona). Last minute addition as had no suitable Cup horse so put her in as she won Leger. Sire and Dam both gamebreds who won Irish St Leger and middle distance races in Dubai. One of the earliest bred horses in the team and produced several good horses at stud but a real dark horse here. My experiment over extreme distances if not barred through handicap rules. Won on Soft - Good to Firm 1/10

Older Horses

Flemi Blue 5f (Flemi Two Toes - Blue Ridges) US import, Won Nunthorpe on only UK start to max out speed bars. Been a good addition to breeding barn throwing up a few good sorts. Won on Soft and Good but prefers Dirt. Surpise winner of trials beating out Catwoman, Smokey and the Miracles and Selina Kyle who are all in line to enter in window. Hope to pick up an AW sprint 6/10

Gypsy Soul 4f (Come Taste The Band - Lou Doillon) Bam barely stayed 5f on the flat but stamina from sire turned her into 6f specialist. Won all big sprints in game including 5f Kings Stand although in here primarily as 6f horse. Dual Diamond Jubilee and Breeders Cup winner on Heavy - Good to Firm and Dirt. 7/10

Comin Home 4c (Come Taste The Band - Like Water) Dual Guineas winner but slightly better at 7f. Won Prix De la Foret by huge margin in heavy ground. Stays a mile on easier tracks or in suitably run races. Won on Heavy - Good to Firm 6/10

Mistress of Erzulie 4f (Smokey and The Miracles - Anyones's Daughter) Stable superstar who won 14/15 races including all major 2yo. Won all top mile races at 3 and 4. only defeat came in Falmouth when taken to opposite side of course (won race on that side). Stays 9f. Won on Heavy - Firm and Dirt. Big disappointment in trials losing out in 2yo and 3yo categories despite having best bars and stats. Before trials was my best hope of league win on flat. Not so sure now ?/10

Phoenix Rising 5c (Come Taste The Band - Anyone's Daughter) Half brother to Mistress of Erzulie, not so speedy but stays 10/12f. Won Derby at 3 but flopped at 4 before taking middle distance crown at 5 dropped back to 10f. Won on Soft - Good to Firm 7/10

Marching Powder 5c (Come Taste The Band - Ariel) Out of Coronation Stakes winner. Won Guineas Epsom/Irish Derby, King George and Arc on Soft - Good to Firm. Best middle distance horse in stable. Hopeful can pick up a race. 9/10

Come Taste The Band 4c (Fix Howcleuch - Annabelle Croft) The Northern Dancer of Leedham Towers. First true champion I bred and is in bloodlines of most stable entrants. Sire only stayed a mile and dam was speedy 5f sprinter so not sure how he ended up being middle distance horse and siring such. Won every major race at 2 and 3 including Guineas and Derby but only just stayed Derby trip. Only defeat came in King George at 12f. Best at 10f. Deserves his place in team and can hopefully land a prize 9/10

Rumours 5m (The Painter - Fleetwood Mac) By Arc winner out of top class middle distance filly. Is still active in current game as 5yo. Unbeaten multiple Group 1 winner but mostly against own sex and not quite sure how good she is. Won on Soft - Good to Firm and Dirt 5/10.

That is the team then, probably too many fillies and to dependant on Come Taste The Band bloodlines but have gone with results of trials and not sentiment. Serious target is to just try and be competitive. Will be disappointed if I don't get at least one winner. Hoping for 3-5 and at least one good show in a pattern race ......... we tilt at windmills around here !!
