Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had these issues before and fixed them.

I have an old laptop and a brand new over the top desktop.

I copyed all the files onto the new system, including all files inside (program file x86), so I could play my old saves. I now save (external) just the 'saved' games folder and copy and paste them onto the laptop sometimes if I want to play when we go away.

This has worked well for 6 months, and all games are fine apart from 1. The one I want to play.

The last 2 weeks. (by open I mean the actual saved game, full game opens and can run the CK)
It wont open half the time, it crashes when i try and save half the time. Crashes when exporting horses half the time. It has become very frustrating as it works best on the slow laptop (which overheats), on a windowed tiny screen. Currently it opens on there but wont save and wont open on my desktop.

It seems to crash when i save at different dates depending on the machine. The screen res I feel can make a difference, but never know which one will work.

Before I go full nucular and reinstall, does anyone have experience of fixing this.

Also doesn't anyone know the uses of these 4 files, genset.idx, hdb_, db.i and atg1.db

These are the 4 I paste back in when I lose my export horses. Maybe I don't need all or have mixed them up?

This could cause problems if you did this instead of a proper install.

The hdb files are your exported horses, there should be two of them .db and a .bak. The .bak is a back up of the .db in case it is lost during a crash. No idea what the other files do.

Only time I had issues was when my hdb file grew too large (around 18MB) and was causing a lot of crashes so had to prune my exports. If all your other saves are ok then this is probably not your issue.

Yeah I've gotten the hdb file down to 6mb (900 horses), but this was only 1800, so doubt that was the issue

No it was a proper install then pasting in the same course edits/schedules i had used.
