 Word Of Warning
When handicaps start in week three I will be looking at the placements of the winners. If I think you have deliberately tried to get a low Mark through let's say imaginative nominations your horse will be thrown out and the race will be run again. The horse will also receive a lengthy handicap ban. You have been warned. Steve

 Re: Word Of Warning
Not sure what guidelines Rich has put in place.
I am going to use my own judgement re dodgy placements.
Winners can be put up anywhere between five and fifteen pounds.
But dodgy 'winners' will be thrown out.

 Re: Word Of Warning
Not that I'll be involved in this but do offenders have the right of appeal against your decision Steve?

 Re: Word Of Warning
Yes appeals will be heard.
Handicap ratings should complete on Monday.
Any thrown out winners will be made public on Tuesday, players will have 24 hours to appeal.
If I don't agree with the players argument the race will be re run Wednesday or Thursday.
There were quite a few 'winners' thrown out last season.

 Re: Word Of Warning
I'm going to be way stricter on this this season.
Horses, outside of the very best, are not effective over multiple distances in the league, I can assure you that is fact.
The problem with +1 rules is that it doesn't cover many instances:
e.g I don't want 5f horses running over 6f but I don't mind 6f horses running over 5f. I don't want 6f running over 7f etc etc.
Ideally a horse will always run to it's optimum distance, the 2nd choice is 1f less than it's maximum distance. 3rd choice is 1f over it's maximum and only if it's a distance of 1m1f and nothing else is acceptable.
I am more relaxed about longer distances but still, more than 2f above it's maximum is not really acceptable because when a horse is dead on it's backside it literally stops and therefore the handicap mark is ruined.

 Re: Word Of Warning
I have a 3 year old that clocks 1.10.5 over 6f @ ascot, 1.23.4 over 7f @ ascot and 1.39.8 over 1m @ ascot.........would I be thrown out if it runs badly over 7f in its maiden, hacks up over 6f next time out, then wins a listed/group race over 7f/1m next time out after been handed a huge weight penalty and handicap ban??? (Now I know its highly unlikely any of mine will be winning listed/group races but just using this as an example).

Really could of been told these rules before the league started not after the first week of maidens??? l have old horse's that only have been uploaded to old notes and now cannot if they get hammered? Poor I do believe many people asked if there where any rule changes last few weeks and no answer, then once league started we are told there is??

 Re: Word Of Warning
These are the same rules as last season. Applied strictly, I let a whole lot slide last season!
edit: I will be flexible though, if the case is convincing enough.
If you race a horse over 6f for 4 weeks then hack up in a 5f handicap does anyone on here feel that is acceptable?

 Re: Word Of Warning
Just for your info my returning horses have all been given the distances I put for them last season (I tried putting new distances when reuploading but automatically reverted to last seasons!), most of them are roundabout the same anyway but one Rush Of Blood, was 6f as a 2yo last year and is a Miler @ 3 I have put a note under the horse, Apple a Day has also gone from 1m1f to 1m2f from 2 to 3 but that isn't so major, I will put notes under them but just so you know steve and rich! Don't want to be getting any penalties!

 Re: Word Of Warning
I don't look at that, I just don't want to see horses campaigned over 20% longer than their optimum.
We all know they cannot win and it's just a blatant attempt to screw the handicapping system.
Because it is all done by eye, and it's time consuming, I get upset when people obviously try to screw the system as I take it personally. If I miss it I feel like I've taken a win off someone who deserves it.

 Re: Word Of Warning
As I see it there are two weeks of maidens.
Choose which two distances you want to race over and I will rate the horse on it's best run.
Players should then know it's optimum distance and be fairly rated.
If players run outside of those two distances To me you are trying to gain an unfair advantage and handicap winners will be thrown out. If you want to try a new distance it must be in a group race.
