Post subject:  Running Races fron a Racerunners Point of View

Hi

I have just finished my first season as a racerunner and one of the things I have been more aware off is when you have a large field of horses in a race and they are spread out, 15 - 20 lengths from 1st to last, is what do trainers want to see while the race is being run.

I usually tried to show the entire field of horses so that trainers could see where their horses were in the race and then I would zoom in on the leaders with about 2 furlongs to go.

The trouble with showing the entire field is that there is less fine detail on a horses position, but if I zoom in on the leaders, trainers can't see their horses if they are further back in the field and it probably makes the commentators job harder.

What would you as a trainer like to see whilst a race is being run?

What would the commentators like to see whilst the race is being run?

I always thought it would be great if we could get the odd camera view from the jockeys point of view, maybe at the start and mid race.

Can't speak for the other commentators Jim but I am not bothered as variety makes things interesting and I beam the races onto my large screen TV to commentate so always have a good view even when in long shot. I do like the dramatic effect of zooming in at the final fence and run in though.

Thanks for asking.

I guess to maybe take a leaf out of real racing tv broadcasts - watch how they use the cameras during a race and see if you can apply it to SO6.
Keep experimenting and be creative - I am sure us commentators will give you constructive feedback and probably a more blunt response from the wider community lol :-)
