4 Winners on day 1 3 on the flat and 1 national hunt winner (SHOCK)
Thrilled with the start by the flat team but its early days.

UKRA
TAJIKSTAN - MAIDEN WINNER
My 2000 Guineas number 1 has got his career off to a flyer
and he did it very impressively. I'd say he will go for the Craven Stakes
next. Hopes certainly boosted for Newmarket.

IN THE HUNT - MAIDEN WINNER
My Ascot Gold Cup horse has got off the mark he had to ware down John's
horse late on but stayed on really strongly to break his maiden tag.

PORTUGAL - MAIDEN WINNER
My 1000 Guineas number 1 broke her maiden too flew home right down
the middle of the track and stuck to the task well and she will most likely
go for a Guineas trial next.

NHC
TIGERMOTH  - MAIDEN WINNER
Made all in the bumper just seeing off Leon's horse it was a really brave effort.
As i suspect virtually all of my NHC team will be handicappers but just stunned
and amazed that I'm off the mark with a winner on day 1 of week 1 TBH I was
not even expecting a place

Huge thanks to the team appreciate all the hard work and effort you all put in
Many Thanks to the commentators fantastic as always
well done to all the winners and placers especially the newcomers

No winners on day 1 but some decent place efforts.

Not sure my Flat only is worth continuing. Will see in the coming weeks.

Congrats to all the winners and places and to the tea behind the scenes who make this happen.

Roll on Day 2

Post Re: Trainers Thoughts & Reviews
As posted on a previous thread i had x2 2nds and 1x 5th on day 1. I'm surprised with how well some of my horses run considering how little time i have put into the game.

Bosun Brisco 2nd in a 2yo 5f maiden
Brilliant performance in what looked a deep field with all the big stables entered i was worried before the race thinking my horses were just not going to be good enough. But to my surprise he ran well in a very well bunched finish, gives me confidence for the future. May aim at the Brocklesby stakes week 2.

Napapijri 2nd in a 2m 6f hurdle
I was worried about this horse, Exported as a flat horse but trialed well against my only other jumper i have exported i had no idea how it would get on. But to my surprise it was maybe an unlucky loser behind trainer LVR both our horses went early and it was a long battle but mine hit the last and lost all momentum but was coming back at the line. Will look at a 3 mile maiden hurdle next but signs are promising could be a group race type mare.

Mandarin Spirit 5th in a 5f maiden
This was probably my best horse coming into the league. Ran well for 5th copped some interference in the final 2f but was never going to win. I think this horse can turn out to be a decent 5f handicapper and will aim for some of this big 5f handicaps. Happy with the run.

Monte Casino 7th in a 3m hurdle maiden
Beast in game i had decently high hopes for this one. Beats my other jumps horse Napapijri in trials but Napapijri out performed him in week 1. I was slightly disappointed with his run i was hoping to be a little closer. Looked slightly 1 paced will probably try for a maiden over 3m again or 3m 1f next and see how we get on but all hope is not lost he can still become a decent horse can't rule out after 1 run.

Thanks to all on comms! done a great job i have probably watched my races around 5-6 times already  I can't wait for week 2!

Yeah great job with the commentary. Not a great debut for me but it was expected. Another 130 seasons and I may get a decent horse........I hope.

You definitely don't need that many seasons I haven't come close to that . I play to slowly to get there. In fact Bomber InthePocket who ran 2nd in NH was bred in about season 12 or 13. Nick had 2 winners on the flat and he has only played 20 seasons. Gray is leading NH logs and has only played 25 seasons and he had a winner on the flat. It was like that in the past with the old SO games but SO7 is different so there is hope to improve your stable still.

Uploads are open until Friday. If you don't have a full stable, you can add some more and there is a window in week 5 where you can retire 5 and bring 5 new to improve your stable.

On to my performnce. Most of my horses ran well in NH, considering not many of big guns ran. Most of my best are going in day 2 so that will show if I'm still ahead or others have caught up. Gray has a lot of really good front runners and both Josh and John have really good horses. A number of other trainers had runners who went very well and I wouldn't rule out Hemz so season will be very interesting. Happy with my performance in day 1 NH, a solid start with 2 winners Dream of Steel who benefited from the main challenger making a mistake and Saragossa Manuscript who won well but jumping looked a bit chancy. Nice to see new trainers and returning trainers from long ago having some good runs

Onto the flat. What can I say I have never ever led the flat championship in more than 10 years of playing the game. I know its only day 1 but hey they maidens I haven't won a miaden for many seasons now and I won a group race. I was hopeful with the times Iv'e been running in trials, but its been a very long time since I have had good flat horses as my stable is always geared for jumps. I played a combined game for the first time in SO7 and it has really been a revelation for me for both NH and my flat stables

Onto the horses Endless Nights won at Lingfield on dirt coming 6 wide. If she won there then I have some chances in Dubai. Big Gamble won as well, I though my milers were handicappers. Naked Sun was my other winner. I have nevr had a 5f maiden winner in all my many season of the league so taht was great. The soft ground definitely helped. Looks like my old horses are going to be really competetive. Interested to see how Brother in Arms goes in day 2. If she runs well Blood Harvest will have a huge chnace in Dubai. As an added bonusn my 2 3yo guineas horses were close. I havenever evr even placed at the Guineas before in over 10 years of playing game. I will be ecstatic if one of Disintegraion or Vinyl Cafe 2 can place in the Guineas, but not expecting it. A 6yo and 7yo won for me so 2 for the older horses. 3yo's have dominated the flat league for so long, it's nice to see some older horses winning

Thanks to all who put this together. Thanks Martin for the great commentaries, they really add to the league and make the races special.

Good luck to everyone on the next 2 days

I only bought the game end of March and managed about 1 week of actual gameplay before trialing.
On the flat my horses look to be so far behind they need to improve by at least 4 lengths or it's not worth continuing. Maybe next season!
Over the sticks I had one runner, a gamebred, who finished 2nd though might have been flattered thanks to a few fallers in the race.

Thanks to the team and good luck to all for rest of the season.

No winners for me on day 1 however two 2nds an a 3rd, an 4th so not a disaster;

Foshan Parliment 3rd - This is most definitely a miler so wasn't expecting it to win over the 7. A solid run, an possible chance of being close in the guineas

Hanghu Leary 2nd - Was one of my favoured horses before, an ran on well behind Johns, expect this to well over the season, may be capable of picking up a couple

Hanghu Isengard 2nd - One of my Stable stars beforehand, ran a blinder, very good signs as she stayed on very well, not beaten far, may be a player in the sprints. I'm beating her 3 lengths at home trials now too, so good signs

Foshan Crescent 4th - Ran ok, seemed to get taken off his feet a little, then stay back on, might be worth keeping an eye on

Good Start to the season and I think after day 1 I might have a good season which didn't look likely a few weeks ago but with some time in the last few weeks and some Game time I up made up some ground and selecting the combined game has been the best decision ever as trying to run two codes would mean 5o seasons spilt instead 25 seasons and some good Jumpers and to my surprise maybe a few good sprinters on the level.

3 Winners Jumps

Bobbie Excel has I said in the comments on Tom one of my Stable Team that I think will win Grade 1 Races a good start with a win and nice to see Silentl but Deadly share a win the surprise was Lay Your Love On Me but it wasn't a big field and might of met similar types.

Vizean Quick a 2yo 20 Runner Maiden winner that was a shock but that gives me hope for the rest of my 2yo's because she's wasn't the best in trials I have one better and one about the same and she is only second generation that come early in the game has she is now a 17year mare in the Barn in a 25 season Game.

No winners but a couple of 2nds on the flat gives me some hope.
National hunt was poor, they look like low grade handicappers. :(

Kev u only ever one good gamebred sire away from improving anything and by a lot. I have never ever been able to bred any horse over 1m4 in my US games and until a gamebred called Cockney Dobson appeared in my game( breeding barn) I would have only had up to 1m2 horses and with just that one horse I have some lovely 2m+ horses on the flat. It only takes one gamebred sire to improve u horses massively.

Another great day, another unexpected maiden win. Toll The Bell is my best 2yo and that finishing kick was a joy to watch. He started coming back to them at the line so there will have to be a decision made on the Norfolk over 5f or Coventry over 6f at Royal Ascot.

Other runners
Coniferous - 7th - more to come on better ground, disappointing
Starqueen - 7th - Happy with that will improve for step up to 10f
Starport - 12th - Ran really well until getting severely outpaced. Step up to 12f looks likely.
Caltide - 6th - Excellent effort, may step up in trip but Ebor/Leger certainly on the agenda.
Carnelian - 4th - Still on a learning curve with this super Gamebred, will be tested over a range of trips.
Violent Verdict - 12th - my 12f horses never do much so to be expected but stayed on well at the end, more to come Inhope.
Kaskmark - 5th - Lovely run here and expect to be contesting Listed level races with this one.

As always thanks to Gray/Leon, Race runners, Comms and handicappers. Great to see the league thriving with a good bunch of people across the board!

Week 1

Day 1

Flat

Not an especially promising start, but not out of line with expectations.

Best of Both Worlds - 7th - Slightly disappointing showing, was prominant early but could not stay with the pace. Unlikely to see the 2000 on that evidence.

Doughnuts for Frank - 4th - Ran a solid race and I have no complaints, just left himself too much to do against some decent looking horses.

Daughter of Dante - 13th - That was a miserable display, got left in last from the get go and never made any impact dispite a quick finish. Disappointing, no 1000 for you.

Whiskey Marmalade - 12th - Another who tried to win it from last place, bit of late ground but not much room, not sure it would have made any difference. O dear.

Dimension of Time - 7th - Faded and eased, might be better over 2m, but offered very little in the way of encouragement.

Wants to Stay Forever - 10th - Ran the race as I would have expected but badly exposed for pace in the closing staged. You my friend are going to the glue factory.

House That Frank Built - 6th - Beaten for pace when it matter but not the worst performance of the day.

Jump

Great start pretty pleased all round, but a few who put in poor showings.

Tigris of Gaul - 4th - Looked to be travelling well in 4th before pulling a houdini and vanishing literally at 2.1f from home, how did you miss that Martin :). Got to love the racekit and I am always dubious when this happens.

Gloria - 6th - Front ran as expected but as a hurdler I had not expected much from this Chase, really just getting a mark for handicap options going forward.

Sins of the Angel - 7th - Will be better over her preferred 2.4m, need to get her next entry right or I shall bugger her handicap range. No complaints.

In The Nick of Time - 7th - Took the long way round but was well placed coming into the closing stages, hit a flat spot about 7 from home, and could not quicken in the closing stages, first big disappointment, probably too early to worry but might mark some issues with me 2.4m chasers.

Great White Hope - 1st - Did everything right, love this horse very pleased with that as a start.

Archangel - 4th - Started lazily and got caught out wide, challenge was way to late to and did not have the pace when his tried to really trouble the leaders, slightly disappointed.

The Big Easy - 1st - Small field certainly helped her cause though I'll take any 2m hurdle win I can lay may hands on. Nearly got run down, did well to hang on, probably flaters her a little.

Floats Like A Sommerfly - 1st - Lovely display of front running, delighted with that.
