Are the ground conditions picked at random or is there some sort of method behind it?
Having a NH horse who likes firm ground is becoming rather frustrating as every week seems to be good/soft or worse. I don't think i have once seen good/firm or firm ground.
I understand it's just the luck of the draw just wanted to ask for clarity

The computer does it according to an algorithm based on the most likely ground in reality.

NH will have very little chance of being firm ground except for the first and last weeks because these races are run in winter and it is normally wet. There is a chance but it is very small.

Flat is the opposite as most races are run in summer so soft ground is more likely on the flat at start and end of season.

All choices are random but some ground is more likely than others. That's why most NH trainers don't have firm ground horses in their stables
