ITS BACK, WIN €20.00 TO THE CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE..... (Open to all League players, even if you do not have a NH stable)

HOW TO PLAY –

You will need to pick 1 trainer from each Group 1,2,3,4 & 5, that are listed below and you will score points for every race at the festival that they have a horse entered who comes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th

There will also be bonus points (75) available for each, by correctly guessing the total number of DNF'S (Fallers/PU's/Unseated Riders etc.) over all the 29 races at Cheltenham (eg. 58) as well as guessing the largest winning margin in any of the Festival races (eg. 2.5L)

Group 1
Joshua Sutherland
Leon Van Rensburg
Craig Allen
Ryan Tahmassebi

Group 2
Jim Murray
Darren Thompson
David Hooley
John Morgan

Group 3
Paul Rhodes
James Shea
David Robertson
Alex Cherrie

Group 4
Gray Clutterbuck
Ryan Costello
Martin Leedham
Thomas Rogers

Group 5
C Beckwith
Dan Hughes
B Fotheringham
Daniel French
Derek Hinton
Mike Westwood
Ollie McCormack
S Ullah
Sirius Chill
Terry Hansen
Vinny Gerrard
Willie Mullins

Points as follows -

If your trainer pick, wins or places in a race over the Festival meeting -

1st - 25 points (If a DH both will receive 15 points only)
2nd -15 points
3rd - 10 points
4th – 5 points

You will also receive treble points from your pick from Group 5 (i.e if a Vinny Gerrard horse places 2nd you will receive 15 x 3 = 45 points)

+ 75 point bonus available for each, if you choose the correct number of DNF's & the largest winning distance.

Entries to be made in this thread. Entries will close 1600 (UK) Friday 29th, For those trainers who Race Run. All other trainers have until Monday 25th, 1200 (UK)

The winner will be the trainer who accumulates the most points over the meeting from their picks including bonus points if won.

If a tie, the closest to the correct number of DNF's will win. Judges (me) decision will be final.

Entries should look like this –

Josh Sutherland
Darren Thompson
Alex Cherrie
Gray Clutterbuck
Daniel French

DNF's 35

The best complement I could have had this season is to see my name in that first group with those top NH trainers - it just shows my season has gone way beyond my initial expectations. Hopefully I can get one festival winner which was one of my goals for the season but I can say with confidence that I am not the best pick for this group!

I'll go

Group 1 - Leon
Group 2 - David Hooley
Group 3 - Paul Rhodes
Group 4 - Martin Leedham
Group 5 - Craig Beckwith

DNFs - 21
Winning Margin 6L

***** SPOILER ALERT *****
(If you have not watched the races don't continue)

Firstly, Thank you to those who took part, numbers lower than most seasons :( (a sign of the times I feel  )

Josh sits at the top all round with 3 wins on the day, as well as picking himself in the comp he got off to a flyer but Gray just 5 points behind going into the 9 races of Day Two, John back in third but a further 40 back. Alex C with his remarkable two winners on the day (wd) sits at the bottom, not a good start to his defense.

19 DNF's on Day One, which only blows me out as that was my total for the 3 days  but we have all bitten the dust on the winning margin as Alex C's 6.75L impressive win in the Glenfarclas with De Bansha Man is more than any of us thought...

Great start to Chelts Champ Trainer with Both Craig & Josh sharing the top of the leader board on 3 wins a piece, Joining Leon on 2 wins in 2nd is Alex C and a win a piece for Darren T, Ryan T & Gray  (1st & 2nd, surely that race needs re-running lol)

*** The usual Spoiler Alert applies ***

What a difference a day made, Twenty four little hours........{singing}

So all change, all round, my dear mate Josh  went from Hero to Zero on Day Two of the festival....

And Gray fly's on up to the top of the leader board as only a budgerigar loving trainer could do... John moves up to 2nd with Josh now in third and Ryan T & C, make up the top five and prob need the extra bonus points on DNF's to figure but who knows.... We could mention who is looking at the wooden spoon but that wouldn't be nice

Image Image

a further 13 DNF's bring the total too..... 32 so far, which only leaves Alex C (42) Darren (33) & Gray (wtf! 184) with a chance of the bonus points.

And the Festival Trainers Champs has a little makeover too, with Ryan T experiencing the winners enclosure, no fewer than three times on the day (wd) a couple of wins for Leon. Darren & Craig with one a piece and new leader board boys David H & PJR getting a piece of the Day 2 action..

So a three way tie at the top between Craig, Ryan T & Leon, with Josh one win behind, going into the last 8 tomorrow.....

p.s Told you it was fluke Clutterbuck
