Post Volunteers For Next Season
Hi, volunteers are needed to race run next season as Leon can't do it and possibly Gray too.

Also always looking for commentators to help Martin and Stu, so if you can do that please reply

If you do want to race run you need to have a dropbox account that is not the free one to upload races and other files

These people were race runners last season, if you are still able to do it then reply and say so

David Hooley
Josh (needs silks fixed)
Alex (i am ok to do it)
Leon (Unable to)
Gray (Probably no)
Stu Gray

We need at least two new ones or the season can't go ahead

Thank you

Happy to try some commentary, assuming it’s easy on the tech front. As I’m a complete numpty there. Also as long as you don’t want the same standard as Martins and Stus as mine definitely won’t be!

I can send you all the info you need. All pretty straight forward. Only techy bit is adding the sound effects (hooves and cheering) but once you have done that e few times it becomes automatic.

All you need is a microphone and some software called Audacity which you can download for free.

We could do with about 4-6 races per day doing on the flat assuming Stu is happy to continue with the jumps.

As long as the microphone on the laptop will do.

It should do. You can adjust the volume on audacity after recording and the gain prior to recording so if its low you have can give it a fair double boost. Best play around and see.

You will need access to dropbox too. But for comms you can get away with the free one as you only need to watch the video and just upload the audio.

Should be able to get set up without costing anything as longer as your laptop mic is loud enough, which it almost certainly will be with a bit of tweaking.

Would the handicapping be 100%, or is the tool, gonna do it like a season ago, with adjustments being made where needed. I done it the end of the season the tool done it, and I still think it would be fine t do it again as only the foreign races really needed adjusting too much.

I'd be willing to take it on for the flat if it was tool based with adjustments again. I think I'd struggle to find the time for full handicap management without tool help though. The first 2 weeks of maidens are the most important, after that it should just be adjustments

Yes I think we worked out that week 1 and 2 needed to be done manually as it set some marks far to low/high for a starting point. After that I think it was agreed that the 'handicapper' manually did the foreign based races and just looked at the UK races and adjusted anything which looked 'wrong'.

The first two weeks are important that it must be done Manually Also group races/Listed races foreign or Home(UK)also must be adjusted for G1 Handicaps later in the season if they are any left ?

You cant just leave it to the race kit to handicap it's Bollocks it not worth the hassle I know you want to get on with the season if you dont do it properly by Week 4 it will blow up with trainers not happy if it comes down to it That its left to the race Kit except for foreign or Group races i wont have a flat stable because its Bollocks dont take it offence that i am saying bollocks but not having a go it just is.

I do it if i have to rather than leaving to the Fecking Race kit.

Gray

No Longer gives a shit what he says he's on borrowed time anyway Lmao

Post Re: Volunteers For Next Season
I am wondering if it is possible to do it like in real life.

Its obviously too big a commitment for one person.

What if we split it into sections.

A 2yo handicapper

A 3yo + sprint handicapper (5-6f)

A 3yo + Mile handicapper (7-9f)

A 3yo + middle distance handicapper (10-13f)

and a 3yo + long distance handicapper (14f up)

That might spread the load a bit, anyone feeling brave could take on 2 categories.

If we did it this way I would volunteeer to do the 2yo alongside the comms.
