Post Jumps Handicapping
Could someone let me know how the Jumps handicapping works, I assume we have no handicapper so it is done by the game?

I have little to no chance as it is, yet I seem to be having horse that are barely dropped despite finishing last at every turn, or walking into horses who ran in a maiden hurdle in week 1, then ran in chases the rest of the time, and now rock up in hurdles off ridiculous marks. Jean Laffite in race 34 as example. This is no pop at those trainers, I would do the same thing in the same position and nothing against it, happens in real life etc. It's more a pop at how on earth Friday Fireworks is still rates 101 finishing 6/10/14/5/19/20th and having to give 9lb to Jean Lafitte who has won a chase and was recently 4th off 107.

For example:
Archipelago - Beaten 4 horses home all year, still rated 96
Bochum Bullet - has been on 95 since week 2, despite not reaching a top 5
Element Of Victory - Still on 101 hasn't finished in top 8 last 3 runs
Fiscal Drag - Same position as Archipelago, barely beaten a runner, still 95
Friday Fireworks - Still 101 despite finishing figures of 6/10/14/5/19/20

Yokohama is one of the worst, punished with a 10lb rise for falling on day one, form figures of 7/13/9/7/10 and yet to drop below 100 to figure in hunter chases.

Just feels pointless me even bothering, I appreciate helpers are light on the ground but it's very frustrating, also there's barely any hurdle handicaps under 110/100 so my hurdlers literally have little to no chance.

It’s a thankless task sadly……

I wonder if it is worth re-looking at the trainer handicap again, think it was Sirius who applied it previously where top trainers were given a fixed extra penalty and those lower down less, even as far as an allowance. My horses may have up and down weeks, and some won’t win a race all year, but it’s fair to assume as they are mine all are group/graded class and most G1 capable.

Yeah I get that, I wish I could help out but just don't have the time.

I think also the lack of low grade hurdles and some of the horses not being dropped enough to make hunter chases when they havent even got close is the main issue.

It is what it is and the toys will never leave the pram, just frustrating that's all.

I'm not sure a trainer handicap would work, but essentially that's what Vinny has done by handicapping based on results against those with better horses in the maidens and I can't find anything to complain about on the flat, so maybe it will work!

My one suggestion is you don’t get a handicap mark in the hunt till your horse completes a race. So no automatic 110.

Chase marks rarely go under 93 I’ve noticed.

Hunter chases were up to 105 after week 4 or 5 last season, but seem to have reverted back to 100 this season.
