Post subject:  gelding horses??

having read through a few threads it seems you can geld a horse (to make it "calmer" yeh right look at the trainers table) then alt ctrl del to get it back its original manhood, however the calmer gelded horse remains in your files is this manipulation widely accepted?as i for one want to play the game as it was intended.hope i dont get gelded for this post or am i totally wrong please enlighten me

2 of the top 3 trainers in the UKRA league don't geld, Scatters has a brilliant record at placing his horses 18 runners 12 winners and 4 placed, L Cara 32 runners 10 winners and 15 placed.

Other trainers geld as they have done in previous versions of the SO series but in SO4 it makes no great difference IMO.

I did say in my first post UKRA, so if you look at the overall 2 of the top 4 don't geld, Dancing Brave in 5th has 1 gelding and 13 colts/stallions so you can't say gelds.

I my first game I would geld most of my colts/stallions, I have started a new game and don't geld now.

To answer you question is this how the game should be played, players can play the game how ever they want, everyone won't play the game the same as player will have there own ways of training, breeding and trialling there horses.

yeh but i keep reading how REALISTIC it should be kept how realistic if your horse is a jaffa one minute then with the flick of a switch hes supersperm surely if hes gelded in the league he shouldnt have any more of his bloodline in the league isnt that realistic??

This was discussed in a earlier post also, someone would need to check every exported horse file which would be a time consuming job.

In my stable I don't think I have any of my gelding in the lineage of any of my horses, that would mean all of my gelding would get in.

You could geld everything in your stable but if you don't trial and breed correctly you will find it hard in the league.

Some player have horses that have won over 20 G1's from all over the world, they must spend more time in a plane than on the gallops (not realistic) but when they run them in the CK are they any good, if not you shouldn't breed from them.

I really don`t like to geld my stallions even if they keep failing to win after showing potential but occassionally I do have to resort to the ultimate. So far after playing 3 games for 20+ seasons I have gelded two horses and it broke my heart to do so. Boo Hoo to me lol.
But on a very serious note. I would not mind spending a few hours flagging horses bred artificially. Way I see it is geld it and that`s the end of the bloodline. Anyone reattaching the cahonas is cheating and I hate using that word but if the cap fits wear it.

If the powers at be really want to stop the saving, geld, delete game, reinstall old save game scenario then Mark has to introduce some unique numbering system for each individual horse in newer versions of Starters Orders.

If you have a horse that has been uploaded and gelded for the league, those administering can see the special numbers and keep a record. If in future uploads ie season 2 or 3 etc a horse appears with that number it can be disqualified.

Every new horse bred has its own special number and the one from its sire so they can do a quick cross check. It is possible but a reworking of future SO.

The gelding issue again------

For the record gelding does not improve performance...I only geld out of habit as i used to in previous games....
I think a bigger issue could be duplicating horses but im too busy to go into detail -thats another thread another time!!
