UK Season 12 Week 01 Race 14 Start up Maiden 1st Full Flight (hurricane) B6(12); 53kg Powerful filly who was back most of the way until about 950m out when she made her move to go forward gaining on the leaders continually and found a passage 500m out through the middle of the pack to challenge the leader Jeune at the 300m mark. Showed staying power and guts to head that horse for a great victory on the line. Top oaks prospect 2nd Jeune (scatters) B12(12); 53kg Started from widest gate on turn which caused it to lose some ground but afterwards settled nicely towards the back. Ran 4 and 5 deep most of the way and at the 1000m mark made its run to go forward being the widest runner and hitting the lead about 600m out. Looked the goods until Full Flight threatened about the 300m mark and challenged all the way to the post. Was unable to resist the winner who was too good on the day. Excellent staying effort and would pay to keep very safe. 3rd Kris S (K Robertson) B3(12); 54.5kg Started well and was content to be in a handy position taking the lead about 1600m out. Was headed by Jeune and then Syncopation, Full Flight and Mighty Atom 550m out but battled on hard to snatch 3rd place from Mighty Atom right on the line. Battled on gamely and showed that he won’t go down without a fight. Keep safe. 4th Mighty Atom (P Hogan) B5(12); 54.5 Started well and in a forward position for most of the way. Waited patiently and made its move about 500m out when asked for an effort. Could not go with Full Flight and Jeune but wasn’t too far away being grabbed on the line by Kris S. Keep safe. 5th Texture (Team DOZA) B2(12); 54.5kg Settled towards rear for the first part of the race and made rails run 1000m out to gain on the leaders till the 500m mark where it was blocked badly and lost 2 to 3 lengths. Overcame that to make quick ground but not enough to reign in the first 4 place getters. Clear passage and would have been a lot closer. Consider. Look for Sideways, Callandor, Syncopation, Battle Horror, Beatrice At That, Cape Cross & Marryah with the weight advantage in upcoming races to be right in it. |
