Post Sorry Everyone..Moores Million
looks like the Moores Million Races have been withdrawn

for this season...again

ive got no answers to my questions over the last 3 weeks

so im sorry to say it has been dumped again

for the 2nd time in 2 seasons !!!

im about to root for a breakaway NHC league

away from the all too important Flat..'a legend in its own mind'

absolutely fed up with being a 2nd class citizen when it comes to racing

all i can say is stuff the flat

and long may the NHC survive under new management...

sorry to be terse and to the point

but its no use pussy-footing around this subject anymore..

most disappointed in Rich i must say....

makes me think of the famous line 'Read my lips...No more taxes'

I would have loved a 4m+ race next week, going to struggle getting an handicap mark with my National horse. He's entered in the 3m2 chase but has no chance, he needs atleast 4m4f.

ill be very disappointed to see the Moores Millions not reach its conclusion again, its been fantastic so far and was looking forward to the final!!

Paul i believe, and ive said this to rich, that the nhc from next season needs a new schedule. 25 races per week including moores millions integrated into the schedule from the onset. The nhc should also have two handicappers for hurdlers and chasers. The races should have as many comms as we can get together as i believe the nhc comms are so exciting its brilliant watching races with comms.

There are a few other ideas i have for nhc which i hope can be discussed at the end of this season.

was used to XP when it came to comms far easier job

with the help i will do a few comms

but i cannot promise to do them every week

i would like to do a few comms

as i miss the old days when every race was covered in comms

i agree comms make a huge difference to the racing...

tho the racing is far more exciting than the boring old flat ones

a bit like comparing Nascar to GP racing...no contest..lol

only need one arm to go round a Nascar track its a wonder they

dont fall asleep thro' the boredom

of going round in a left or right circle for 100's of laps..lol

thinking about it..it does sound like flat racing lmao

I think rich should get a few trainers from the NHC to look at and tweak the schedule for next season. He could maybe get a couple of top trainers and q
Also a few with less wins so smaller races are not overlooked for small trainers.

I also think the NHC needs handicappers. In my opinion I would have 5 handicappers. One doing all 2m to 2m 4f hurdle and another 2m to 2m4f chases. One doing all 2m 5f to 3m3f hurdles and another 2m 5f to 3m3f chases. And the last one doing all races over 3m 3f.

I think rich should also look at appointing someone head of NHC and working with rich make the NHC better as it is being overlooked to often at the moment.

Why have the races been withdrawn? From playing previous NH league seasons they have proved very popular. I don't understand?

I think that a break-away/standalone NH League is the way forward personally, in fact all leagues should be strong enough to stand up in there own right by now considering the number of years its been running.

Three leagues under one president is too much in my opinion, they should be separate and run by people who love and have a passion for there respective codes.

I have started an alternative NH league schedule but have been unable to finish due to work/family life, i will endeavor to finish it before the next NH league kicks off (Does anybody know when that could be?)

Personally i only play the NH side of the game, which coincidentally is fantastic with Panthers in game schedule, and im very hopeful of having some decent stock to go to war with next season.

i agree with the last 2 comments

but i would go further via not waiting til next season to correct the schedule of NHC ..no time but the present

i realise that a lot of this is my fault as i retired from the Presidentcy of the NHC..i would never have let it get this far ...in fact it was agreed that Ryan(Hurricane Run) take over the presidentcy this season but this has not happened for whatever reason i do not know why it was'nt the case
it has been Rich running everything as it it loos like so far and one person doing everything just aint what the league is about it has been approaching 3 seasons since i got paid anything from the league which is mighty strange cos if this was the case on the flat we would never hear the end of it..as far as im aware most ppl have got a lot of cash from PM on the flat and it has been left to ppl like myself to help prop the NHC by providing PM..which is something im willing to do...even tho winning all that money in Goliaths is still waiting to be paid out i made it so i got a small percentage of it and used this money to help my fellow Trainers in NHC out..like sponsoring the Moores Millions races and some major Nationals ie English,Scottish,Irish and Welsh GN's.. i will continue to sponsor these Nationals but im unable to sponsor the Moores Million has it has been dropped from the Schedule ???

plz accept my apologies for this oversight on my part but health issues have been impossible to predict with surgrery twice a week and Dr's appointments being my only adventures outside my home the last few months meant i have been a recluse in my own home with time to kill and being part of the NHC and the rest of the league being my only saviour for the last little while and it is distressing to see my ideas and endeavours falling on seemingly deaf ears lately what i have done to bring this about is beyond me as i've only been doing things for the good of my fav league (NHC)..so i dislike the flat its not something personal i just find racing on the flat boring to tears and jumps racing far superior in my own mind...this is mostly the case in RL as the classics on the flat pale into insignificance compared to the classics in NH Racing the powers that be on the flat admit this and have been trying to emulate their opponents popularity this season past and next season's fixtures ppl have always found the NH far more exciting and will always be the case whatever the Flat authorities will do to try and steal our thunder..cos it simply will not happen..if they tried to mess with the NH the way they have and are doing on the flat there would be a large uproar and rightly so..' if it aint broke dont fix it '... but it isnt the case over the jumps as it is broke to some degree but methinks it aint down to anyone specifically just it needs individual attention and being given the authority to change things on a League Presidentcy basis being overlooked by the overall SOPL President
which by my definition is or has been the case until this present season

now we have the SOPL President having to run everything which is what the individual league Presidents did in the past to my mind. the SOPL President is run on a caretaker basis where the day-to-day running of the leagues is left in their hands and the SOPL President steps in when needed to give a helping hand when things are broke or in need of a little attention to the league presidents but for some reason we dont have league presidents anymore as everything is now directed centrally by the SOPL President..why this is i do not know maybe ppl have been happy with the status quo this season ..i am not as my fav league is being starved of attention and it is destroying my season as i cannot do what i want to do ..which is helping my fellow NHC trainers with PM and funding where it is needed(which still is on offer BTW).. i would like to see the individual League Presidents back running things as its meant to be and ppl like myself wont get dis-encouraged by something that is out of their hands to help with??

i am sorry for being passionate about my fav league and the issues facing it and i have gone on a bit plz once again accept my apologies for being one of the persons responsible for what is happing in my fav league

Rich... i have no bad feelings against you or your staff who do work hard each week to bring us our racing but i do not agree with some of the methods now being used in the SOPL and only wish to see each league flourish in its own ways

can we get back to league presidents running their own leagues and it would take a lot of work off your back and maybe help you and everyone else enjoy their Favourite League(s)

regards to everyone

ps why do i feel like im playing the Devil's Advocate in this situation??

I think this idea of a stand alone league needs to be clarified - it shouldnt mean seperate website, seperate operation etc. It should be run as it is now but with significant improvements.

If a complete revamp of the nhc was given the go ahead then Hemz and I were going to look at creating a whole new schedule. Jackdaw its great to here that you are already working on one - maybe hold fire and wait on see what next season will hold!I have emailed Rich and told him of my ideas for the NHC and im sure he will consider them carefully. If we can create a whole new schedule then could you, hemz and myself work together on a new schedule??

Liam - i can assure you the smaller stables will not be overlooked whatsover!!there would be restricted races and maidens i promise. My idea would be to up the race number per week to 25, integrating Moores Millions fully into the schedule. There would also maidens and lower handicaps as there are now, and maybe a few more graded handicaps for the higher rated horses. The idea would be to create a lovely balance between race types and distances. I completley agree the smaller stables need races to suit them, but also the bigger stables do to. With the current schedule and handicapping system a stable like Hemz's has no chance running off top weight in all the g2s and g3s and handicaps every week!!!

I like the idea of a number of handicappers, i guess it would be down to how many volunteers there would be to do the job. I suppose the more there are the less a job it will be for those people, but i suppose one person would have to be chief handicapper to ensure that the ratings are being done consistently - does that make sense?? but yeh great idea, i think there would even be 4 or 5 volunteers already.

As for the comms, i think they are great for all leagues but i think they are best in the nhc. Maybe i am biased because i love the nhc , but i do commentaries for both and i feel more natural doing the jumps. The way the game runs and with alot of the horses off the screen it is so hard to capture the race on the flat - Before you even mention a couple of horses you are 2f from home and a horse has come from knowwhere and you havnt even mentioned the run. My personal opinion is that the nhc comms are unbeatable, and next season i would love to see every race commentated on - i would do a chunk of them, Pepsi would , Paul would - so we have volunteers who are not only willing to do the comms but enjoy doing them aswell.

Other small ideas i have are just little touches which i think would make the nhc league extra special. One of these little ideas would be for the Cheltenham Festival - I would like to do a racing post style document with the runners , riders, and odds for each race and maybe do a racing post style tipping competition where you select a stable. Also i would like to see the races released on the corresponding days to real life i.e. on the Tuesday the Supreme, Arkle, William Hill, Champion Hurdle etc. will be released. Think it would be really fantastic week of nhc racing done that way. Help would definitly be needed for the preview document as would take quite a while!!

Another idea would be for End of Season Awards. I would like to maybe try this out at the end of this season to see how it goes down . Basically i want to create a document with loads of different categories and nominees and email to all the nhc trainers (or post a link on here). The trainers can all then vote for each category and the winners will be announced!! Categories will go from Hurdler and Chaser of the year right through to other ones like Faller of the Year. any thoughts on that??

Can l just add and remind people of what was said before this new season started, all these concerns where brought forward and people including myself was told to keep quiet and give new president a chance and all would be sorted. I have come back to get into the game again mid season and from what l can see the people who where voicing concerns have been proven right????? Am l wrong or am l just mis-reading that people are now saying wait till next season for things to be sorted and next season are we going to have to wait another season? Seems all the concerns where worthwhile and the league has just been rushed through again mostly concentrating on the flat and putting the NH to 1 side letting it just run its cause.

I agree with everything what has been said.

This season we have seen many changes behind the scenes. A new president and staff roles to be filled, it's very hard work getting the right people to make a league work and run smoothly. Reliablility play a huge part in it. So kudos to Rich and the staff for making it happen.

It would be great to see presidents back in all 3 leagues, and Rich doing the same job what colm did. It would lighten the load for everyone and make each league better, with fresh ideas.

I think all 3 leagues need a serious look into next season, i will help out in anyway in the NH league, not bothered about the flat. Am sure there are people on the forum who like the flat better than the jumps and vice versa.

A stand alone NH league would be awesome, it's the best league out of the 3. It would be great if we could maybe get something going early for next season, like new Schedule, Handicappers, comms etc. If we get the green light.

I hope Rich really thinks about making it happen, the flat leagues are elite and always will be. But for the NH you can have the best stable with the best horses, but they dont always win. It's so unpredictable, with falls, blunders, been taken out by another horse who falls. The NH has drama, which makes it so exciting to watch.
