 grand national runners
I have a horse running this week that will only have 1 run before grand national entries close, can I still enter it into the national???
it will be running over 4m3f at sligo so everyone will know just about what it can do over roughly the same distance as the national.
lets be honest if the national dont have at least 25 runners then it wont be realistic!!!

I'm just back into the league so not really entitled to my five cents worth, but hey, I'm going to do it anyway!!!
I'm having my first runners in the new league this week, including one in the Sligo 4m3f race. I've been advised that it's probably 2 races needed before qualifying for National, but I see horses already entered with only 1 previous runner. Maybe they will be scratched before the race or maybe 1 run is enough.
Either way, I agree with the point that it's the Grand National and it will be a bit of an anti-climax with the current 10 runners!
And if my donkey gets in with only 1 run, I promise he's slow enough not to bring any other runner down when he falls. I can't promise he wont do a Popham Down afterwards though!

The horses currently entered with one run are due to run in Week 13.
There is a backup race lovingly called the National Dropouts but really I'd like to see two runs for the National.

No it's 2 races before you can enter any handicap, not just the National. The horses in question who have 1 run in them are in week 13 which is this Thursday races. so they will have 2 runs when the National takes place.
These have been the rules all season for Handicap races in the NH.
It is alittle unrealistic not to have 40 runners in this race, but there is not 40 trainers in the NH League.
Am sure we have never had more than a 20 horse runner field since the NH league began.

Thanks guys, appreciate the prompt replies - all makes sense now. I just read the initial rules stating 3 runs before entering handicaps - too lazy to trawl through the site to see if it had been amended
I'm only entering the last few weeks to see how much work I would need to put in to enter next season at a reasonably competitive level.
Although looking at the result of the Gold Cup, I'd still be miles behind Mr Hogan as I always was in SO2 league!!

cant go changing the rules though halfway thru season - plus isnt there only 30 runners max in a race on this game???
2 runners in a race sounds like a good option for next season, but what will it do to the field sizes? and will people start uploading pacemakers?
i thought it could be a good idea for rich to create a stable of pacemakers which he could enter into group 1 races over various distances. could be a good idea for next season?

There are only 35 trainers!
Take out the people with only 1 horse in their stable and that's 30.
Would be pleased with 20 runners

Dont want to change the rules ryan, Rich has already flirted with that by testing the handicap rules and changing the ground at cheltenham to try and ease the barrage he was getting.
My horse has know chance of winning and probably wouldnt even get round, just would have been nice to be involved.
I'll just have to cheer my horse around sligo in the national drop outs race.

There are 17 runners in the Irish National. If any of the trainers in there don't have any other stayers, why not just enter their Irish National runner?
Hell, give us a touch of class and enter a Group 1 winner if you have no other options. Padraig; i'm looking in Allesandra Dee's direction!
