just a quicky when trialing do you go for the horse that has clocked your quickest ever time or the one that is most consistant i usually have 20 trials per distance so do i go for the one who has won the most i dont no about anybody else but i use a points system for my trials points for 1st 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th by the end of 20 trials the top point scorer is my most consistant horse but the top points scorer does not always have the quickest ever time at that distance cheers in advance for any help |

Go for the one that is most consistent. Sometimes a horse can clock a freak time that is not a true representation of its ability. E.g. When trialing my 2 year old milers recently, one of them clocked 1.41.9 (around 1.5 secs faster than my average) at Ascot under Grp 1 conditions on good ground. In all subsequent trials, and I ran more trials than usual trying to get close to that time again, this horse trailed in nearer last than first every time. |
