THE PAUL MOORES NHC CHAMPIONSHIP CHALLENGE ![]() Morning all, Furthermore to my message yesterday evening about an announcement regarding the National Hunt Club below are the full details about what I'm looking to implement. After the sad passing of Paul Moores, and this being my last season in the SOPL I am looking to make the final season of Starters Orders 4 the most exciting it can be, which should hopefully get more trainers entering, and keep everybody busy for the whole season. The idea behind the Championship Challenge is that it gives everyone a chance at winning, and revolves around stables having their full quota of runners, so without further ado let's get down to business and discuss the rules which are going to make this work. Rules 1 - There will be points for every race run under the NHC umbrella for this coming season. Each race there will be points awarded on a basis of (5pt - 1pt) for placings (1st - 5th). Should there be less than five horses in a race, the extra point will be added onto the winners points haul. 2 - Along with their being points for every race, there will be two bonus races a week (from week 3 onwards) which can be found on the list below the rules of the competition. Points for the bonus races will be doubled (10pt - 5pt) for placings (1st - 5th), and like normal any races with less than five horses in a race, extra points will be added to the winners tally. 3 - If a horse manages to win more than one bonus race, it will receive an additional 10pt bonus for each bonus race won throughout the course of the season. 4 - The Grand National and Moores Millions Final will carry an additional points bonus of 20pts should the same horse be able to win both races. This will only come into force if the feat is completed, otherwise this will be disregarded. 5 - To make things interesting, there will also be four challenges which will cover four races over each specific distance, and to win this additional 50pt bonus prize, the same horse in your stable will need to win all four of these races. Details of these 'Champion Crowns' can be found below the list of bonus races on this post - and it should make things more exciting for the trainers with more 'firepower' in their stables. 6 - Should there be a tie for first place at the end of the competition, the result will be decided on the stable with most wins throughout the season. Should this also be level, then it'll be based around the most second places and so on until a result is reached. Bonus Races WK3 R06 - Badger Ales Trophy Handicap Chase WK3 R15 - Greatwood Handicap Hurdle WK4 R12 - Aintree Juvenile Handicap Hurdle WK4 R15 - Hennessy Gold Cup Handicap Chase WK5 R08 - London National Handicap Chase WK5 R12 - December Gold Cup Handicap Chase WK6 R13 - Victor Chandler Handicap Hurdle WK6 R16 - Coral Welsh National Handicap Chase WK7 R15 - Classic Handicap Hurdle WK7 R27 - Formula 1 Handicap Chase WK8 R04 - Totesport Trophy Handicap Hurdle WK8 R14 - Racing Post Handicap Chase WK9 R06 - David Nicholson Mares Hurdle WK9 R25 - Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase WK10 R16 - John Smiths Topham Handicap Chase WK10 R22 - Grand National Handicap Chase WK11 R11 - Scottish Champion Hurdle WK11 R30 - Moores Millions Final WK12 R03 - 3 Phone Handicap Hurdle WK12 R18 - Naas Court Hotel Graded Handicap Females Hurdle Champion Crowns ![]() Juvenile Champion Crown WK06 R17 - Future Champions Juvenile Hurdle WK09 R22 - JCB Triumph Hurdle WK10 R06 - Matalan Anniversary 4yo Novices Hurdle WK12 R27 - Airshow 100 Champion Four Year Old Hurdle Champion Bumper Champion Crown WK03 R18 - Cleanevent Standard Open NHF Race WK05 R20 - Champion Standard Open NHF Race WK09 R15 - Weatherbys Champion Bumper NHF Race WK12 R12 - Paddy Power Champion I.N.H Flat Race Champion Hurdler Champion Crown WK06 R02 - William Hill Christmas Hurdle WK09 R04 - Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy WK10 R18 - John Smiths Champion Hurdle WK12 R24 - Radobank Champion Hurdle Champion Chaser Champion Crown WK5 R05 - Tingle Creek Chase WK6 R23 - Paddy Power Dial A Bet Chase WK9 R12 - Queen Mother Champion Chase WK12 R05 - Boylesports Champion Chase OHRacing Chaser Champion Crown WK08 R08 - Betfair Ascot Chase WK09 R18 - Ryanair Chase WK10 R15 - John Smiths Melling Chase WK11 R18 - Powers Gold Cup Chase OHRacing Mares Crown WK07 R04 - Warfield Mares Hurdle WK09 R06 - David Nicholson Mares Hurdle WK10 R17 - John Smiths Girls Night Out Females Race WK11 R16 - Masterchefs Mares Hurdle Staying Hurdler Champion Crown WK03 R02 - John Smiths West Yorkshire Hurdle WK05 R19 - BGC Long Walk Hurdle WK09 R19 - Ladbrokes World Hurdle WK12 R23 - Ladbrokes World Series Hurdle Staying Chaser Champion Crown WK06 R01 - William Hill King George VI Chase WK09 R25 - Totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase WK10 R05 - Totesport Bowl Chase WK12 R11 - Punchestown Guinness Gold Cup Chase National Chaser Champion Crown WK05 R08 - London National Handicap Chase WK08 R20 - Midlands Grand National Handicap Chase WK10 R22 - Grand National Chase WK11 R10 - Coral Scottish National Handicap Chase I realise some of these crowns are easier to win than others, but I can only go off the races in the schedule and tried to give it the best spread possible so that they can be won, and more importantly that they are a fair mix of races in regards to the extra points on offer to any horse that can complete the feat of winning all four 'crown' races. Prize In memory of Paul who is sadly no longer with us, I decided to honour his memory with a competition of this nature, and I'm sure Paul wouldn't allow the winner of this competition to go without some sort of award. I have therefore decided to put forward a cash prize of £50 to the overall winner of this competition, and I hope it lives up to the hype and make the season much more competitive and most importantly enjoyable for all taking part. Final Comments I will be taking charge of the scoring, and time permitting will be posting weekly updates and the odd news article trying to generate 'hype' for horses attempting the 'Champion Crown' challenges. Points will be scored on an excel spreadsheet and I'll make this available to all at the end of the competition. As this is a fun competition, my decision is final - and everyone is welcome to take part. So you've got approximately 2 1/2 days left to breed and upload as many horses as you can, to have a chance of winning the £50 cash prize! The competition is sponsored by my website OHRacing, and if you haven't had a look at it already I would really recommend it as there are some great blokes on the forums over there. Thanks for reading and good luck! Let's get racing. |

Well its good to see you haven't just been wasting your time breeding!! In all seriousness this is awesome and once again highlights the quality and togetherness of this forum/community. You will be a huge and sad loss to SOPL and SO5. I've only been around for one season but losing anyone like yourself is bad for the rest of us, even if all your bloody horses beat mine. I hope is family is made aware. Something like this is so nice to hear about someone close who has passed away. Top stuff, Jamie. |
