Hi am new to NH side and wanted to know how I define whether the horses I upload or novices or not can anyone give me a brief run through please?

Yes on the upload screen at the bottom of that screen it says novice or non novice scroll to novice
i would put an image up but my stables are full and cant show the upload screen

Sorry what I meant was how do I know if the horse is a novice is it to do with it's age or if it has run before over fences or hurdles

You can choose whatever, horses will have no form at the start of the season so they are all maidens.
So if you have two horses over the same distance then you can make one a Novice and one a Non Novice and they will be eligible for different races.
