Post Kentucky Derby Preview
Put away the Mint Julep mix and pick up a glass of cobra venom and frog juice! It's America's most famous race and the most famous race ever. Don't argue with me. This years running features 10 runners with maybe half of them having a real chance at winning. But this is the epicenter of drug abuse in horse racing so anythings possible! :?

Kentucky Derby

Hiesenberg - 9/5

Say his name. You know his name. The great Heisenberg. Coming off a week one debut where he met challenges from start to finish and went on to win nicely. The one to beat.

From Above - 3 1/2

Won the Al Naboodah Derby last out at Meydan benefiting from a slow pace. Filly from powerhouse yard will be right there.

Bahariya - 4 1/2

Bahariya shows two impressive late running performances in races that had a slow early pace. With a modest pace expected here I expect Bahariya to swoop down and go clear at the finish.

Ghostzapper - 6

The trainers namesake. Has to be good and bred specifically for this race right? Coming off two defeats in two career starts. Don't be fooled - likely primed for this race.

Sole Explorer - 8

Decent fifth in debut. Switch to dirt a plus. Ignore at your own peril.

Deadly Dozen - 10

Loves it out front but has folded each time. Leading every step here would be nothing short of miraculous.

By Chance - 12

Debuted last week in the Tattersall 3yo Trophy with a decent late run picking off a few runners. Would be a shocker.

Penygarn - 14

Has two deceiving runs under his belt so far. If he runs mistake free today could be near the top.

Inallitsglory - 16

Runs for this Author/Trainer/Dreamer. On the team specifically for her liking of Churchill Downs. Hasn't shown much so far and I suspect she'll run better but still be mid pack at best.

Canale Cru - 18

Has one average race under his belt on the soft at Naas. Big form reversal needed here.

__________________________________________

Thoughts - I'm expecting a faster than average pace to set up here with Deadly Dozen wingin' it on the front with Heisenberg in hot pursuit. Heisenberg should take over at halfway with From Above right behind him. Heisenberg will put away the challenge of From Above and will face serious late challenges from Bahariya and Ghostzapper. Bahariya gets the best of Heisenberg in the final strides with Ghostzapper a close third. Sole Explorer gets fourth late from From Above.

1. Bahariya
2. Heisenberg
3. Ghostzapper
4. Sole Explorer
5. From Above
6. Pennygarn
7. Inallitsglory
8. By Chance
9. Deadly Dozen
10. Canale Cru

I'm not feeling very good, I gave the horse the mint Julep and I've taken the frog juice. I'm turning green and I'll be hopping mad if my horse doesn't run well

I hope u horse runs well Sirus. :D I know its the one u want.

Will take a good one to beat Ghostzapper here in my opinion. Bred for the race and surface, and my guy isn't as good on dirt as he is on turf, I cocked up on the entries which means Rachael Alexandra has to miss the KY Derby and run on turf, which meant I threw in Heisenberg as he was the best of what I had left.

I think he'll run well but expect both Ghostzapper and Bahariya to be too good for him, most likely in that order.
