Why did you choose Amazon as the marketplace for the release? I am super surprised about the power and possibilities of marketplaces nowadays. I think such businesses as Amazon are a real danger for the traditional publishing companies. Even me, I always purchase books online, cause it's even cheaper. But I think it might be a issue from the viewpoint of the author. Feels like you have no control on the process (or maybe this is actually the main benefit of delegating the complex tasks to the marketplace). I think you just need track winit to somehow manage sales and have a bit of statistics, but nothing else.

If you go through a publisher they take a huge cut the author ends up with about 8% royalties
about 60% selling through amazon and they do everything for you printing packaging and shipping
