A wonderful mannered horse that not only was a champion by winning the Melbourne Cup but served the public after his racing career was over, you will always be thought of you honourable horse, I can never forget when he won the Melbourne Cup, my pacer was racing in Griffith in N.S.W. that day, and after paying for her entry fee, I had $20 left in my pocket I thought to myself it was going to be $20 lunch or Sub Zero for the win @ 12 to 1, I started walking to the bookies ring without thinking, and I had my bet on the win, that day my horse got me in trouble with the steward for running dead last, she was ordered by the stewards to undergo 2 trials, but I did not care all I can think of is the gourmet plate of Fish @ chips I was going to have on the track and the full tank of petrol in the car to get me home,

Thank You Champ, You where the greatest in your time and after your time on the race track.

So sad to see Subby had past away.
A true peoples champion.

That year he won the Cup I had Reading (VRC Derby) into Subby in the Cup. I can't remember the odds but they were juicy as Reading was a maiden.

So sad! I only ever heard of him when he won the cup but that was it over here.

Everyone loves a grey they just stand out so when they win big time it's great. And to see him going and helping disabled and elderly people is just wonderful. A true loss!

So sad I can feel the pain. Champions are always remembered by the old audience, that's my point of view.
