Robert Robson (c1765-1838) was a horse trainer.

The leading racehorse trainer of his time, he raised their status from glorified groom to professional. Based initially at Lewes he spent most of his career at Newmarket and continued to live there after his retirement in 1828, when, as a testimonial, members of the Jockey Club presented him with a piece of plate. He was said to be worth £60,000 at his death.

He jointly holds the record for training winners of the Epsom Derby. His horses have won the race seven times, only two other trainers have achieved this. He had some other successes e.g. his horses won the 2,000 Guineas Stakes six times and he saddled over a dozen winners of the Epsom Oaks. To his contemporaries he was known as "the Emperor of Trainers" and his horses benefited from a gentler regime from that then practised by most stables

O'Brien has far more, and better ammunition than Stoute.

stoute has been training for 25 years longer he started in 1972.
stoute is a great modern day trainer my point is ther are beter current trainers
without delving into history
he is a great trainer but would he get into top 20 trainers alltime/worldwide not in my opinion but he would not be far off

The vast majority of O'Brien's 'overseas' victories have been in the UK. Stoute's record outside Europe is better than O'Brien's, with wins including the Dubai World Cup, Japan Cup (twice), Breeders' Cup Turf (4 times) etc.
