I'm considering buying a subscription for RUK. But I'm not sure if it's worth it, so I thought I'd run a poll of people who watch racing... Any opinions would be great because I still think £20 a month is steep for one channel!

Doesn't it have to be a minimum amount that you bet Paul?

I dont subscribe and watch the races I want either through the bookies race player or the one on Betfair/daq. But it depends what you want? Do you want all the chat and analysis? Watch all the races or some? All the RUK races are available to watch on sportinglife that evening.

It all really depends on your betting really supercat. I do not subscribe too RUK except Cheltenham if lm at home. For bets l think its 50p to watch them with PP or hills but is never full screen just a boxed window. £20 is just too much but there coverage and analysis, previews is very good at times but doesnt warrant £20 a month. If it was £5 l would defo subscribe but £20 is a joke imo.

agree with you

over here ruk was part of the setanta package 16 channels for 20 euro then they went bust and ruk now want 25 euro from irish customers for just 1 channel
a joke indeed

Thanks for the replies. I really want the channel for the racing, the analysis, the previews, everything really but £20 is far too much money. I just wondered if people thought the channel was that good that they pay it.

Interesting that you subscribe Mike for Cheltenham, I might think about doing that in the future. I wouldn't have even considered it if channel 4's coverage of Cheltenham wasn't so utterly SH*T, I'm pleased the BBC no longer cover racing but I won't watch racing at all anymore if all C4's coverage will be like Chelts week. I'll have to catch up on t'internet like some of you do.

Bloody hell that is steep! Have always wanted to get RUK myself but never got round to looking into it, but I certainly wont at the price.

As many of you have said, if you just watch the races you can place a small bet (normally 50p on most of the ones I use - mainly Bet365) or if you are tighter than that, you can just place some form of bet on Betfair (doesnt have to be matched) and you still get to watch the race. I normally lay something at odds on so even if by a minor miracle it does come in, you can only lose around 2p!

Not being a betting man I subscribe to RUK and think it is OK apart from when they show French racing which is not part of Uk. You cna get free entry to some race meetings, which I used for Haydock Park in January so if you like to go racing I would consider it good value.
ATR is too much bet bet bet in my opinion with too many commentators talking through their pockets instead of brains like that Matt Chapman bloke who is stupid.
Only my opinion so don't jump down my throat.

You don't even need to have a bet to watch any UK races, there is loads of free websites out there who stream live UK races every day. Here is one i use to watch them along with any football matches from around the world.

Just a tip for betfair users... you only need to have a bet placed not matched to watch the race, so back the fav min bet to win at odds of 1000, it will not get matched but will still alllow you to watch the race then once it starts you just cancel the bet, hope that makes sense.

sorry did not read blazingbailey had already posted about this!
