The Fairy is BACK! Where to next?
(From the Racing Post) TRAINER Ed Dunlop descried Snow Fairy as a "phenomenal racehorse" on Monday after her victory in the previous day's Group 1 Darley Prix Jean Romanet and said that options were open regarding her future engagements.
Owned by Cristina Patino, Snow Fairy was having her first start since late last year at Deauville after sustaining a tendon injury and battled gamely to see off Izzi Top and secure her sixth Group 1 win. Dunlop called the victory as "one of the biggest highlights of my career" after the race and heaped praise on his stable star on Monday morning.
"We're very proud of her - it was a truly sensational day," Dunlop said. "She's got a huge heart and is very tough. Ryan Moore has been very helpful in the preparation and even he was fairly emotional which is saying something.
"There was lots of cheering and clapping and tears from many people. She's now won Group 1s in different five countries, not many horses do that. She's won a Group 1 and three, four and five; she's a truly phenomenal racehorse."
Races such as the Red Mills Irish Champion Stakes and Qatar Pric de l'Arc de Triomphe are under consideration for Snow Fairy according to Dunlop.
Speaking to At The Races, he said: " She's about to be loaded on to a ferry and she seems alright today. She's in the Irish Champion. We'll enter her in the Vermeille, Opera, the Arc, the Breeders' Cup - whatever. I'm not sitting on the fence, we'll get her home and see how she is first.
"Mrs Patino deserves huge credit for letting us do the operation and keeping her in training when she could have retired her as a broodmare."
