How often can a horse race?
I am new to SO6 and Starters Orders. I prefer Greyhound Manager 2 but have played it so much. I know there will never be a GM3 since my question never got answered. I figured I would pick up SO6 for something different.
How often can a horse race before it starts feeling over raced?

How often can a horse race before it starts feeling over raced? I give my horse about 20 days between racing it matter of checking fitness etc. a sprinter will need less time between races compared to a stayer who will need longer.

Re: How often can a horse race?
Thanks for the answer. I do have another question.
Does travelling long distances affect the horses? I have just downloaded the Australian and NZ mod and have set myself up near the Sydney tracks. Should I stick to racing the poorer horses closer to home or doesn't travelling matter in the game?

Some horses can take a lot of racing and some can't. If you click on your horse and check out all the bars - I think there is one called 'constitution' if it's short your horse can only take so much racing and they take a longer time to recover.

Re: How often can a horse race?
I tend to race the 2yo's a bit less than other ages (keeping an eye on the head boy's advice for over racing!) but most of my horses will run between 10 and 16 times a year. Any less and I feel they miss out on runs that improve them and limit earning potential, any more and they do seem to struggle the next season in similar graded races.

I agree about the 2yo's - I try to keep them to around 6 or so starts in their first season.

All depending on suggestions from the head boy, and race availability to see how much each is able to run. From there I just have to figure out if I think it'll improve the horse to run or not, or if it can at least place. I do have heavily raced horses at times, but had a fair few unbeaten ones that pick up G1 wins in their 2yo seasons so I'm highly unlikely to change it!

Hahahahaha I would never suggest you to change what you do What I am doing now is if I am unable to work out a horse after a few runs, I jump onboard and ride it in a race to see just where it should be positioned during a race. nothing like booting home a winner

Re: How often can a horse race?
Never ridden one myself, I got confused about the controls and what each bit meant so I quit the race when I tried months ago (just before the helpful video came about telling us how to do it! ). Might give it another go but so far just stick to buying, selling, and picking races.

I learnt how to ride from the video - its actually easy to do....maybe not so easy to win lol I don't ride any of my good horses.......just the ones that i'm having trouble with or a horse that is not so good.
