Does gelding a stallion help the horses performance or is it just a bit of a gimmick. |

Gelding a horse can sometimes change the horse disposition from 'normal' to 'laid back'. But it doesnt happen every time |

If the stable lad comes back and mentions it would help, it almost always helps in SO7. If you are just doing it b/c the won't settle, I'm not sure. Doing it when mentioned though seems to have a bigger effect in 7 than it did in 6. At least, it feels that way to me. |

I have only done it once with a high potential horse which it did help as he went from nothing to winning a lot of G1's so i then regretted gelding as obviously couldnt stud him. I have gelded a few less "potentials" and to be fair it didnt seem to make any difference |

If Nose band, Blinkers or cheek plates dont settle the horse down, there no other option than to geld it, sometimes that doesnt work either, just the breeding genetics have missed and unfortunately, no other option than to sell and move on. |
