The reason i did this is because i want to change some stuff around for my HK mod like starting money or price of things

Mark i enjoy this game but i cant lie what is some of this stuff lets begin with the less odd

Random Raw Data files which are just gibberish

Image

This isnt too strange its probably some coding language

but the next 2 are simply ... bizarre like i actually got weirded out

you know the menu_ files well i thought they had some interesting purpose so i checked their file type

Image

My curiosity was peaked i had to know what they were containing and....

Image

Why would a developer password protect their files? this made no sense but what happened next made me die of laughter

in the discord we joke about how the game looks like a mid 2000s PS2 game

under db > _cr i found a file with a .v file ending so i looked up what that is

Image

in 2021 for a £30 game he uses 2005 source code

for context a horse born in 2005 is likely retired by now

Mark im sorry but that is poor

Kinda rude there pal.

Go make your own game and show Mark how it's done.

I like the game and have no problems with a 2005 source code.

Again was i rude? no not at all i was simply stating how i thought paying £30 for a game with 16 year old code is just poor i was saying mark was the worst thing to humanity i was simply stating how in MY opinion this was poor by a game developer especially given how rough the game is in places

And my opinion is it was rude. Deal with it.

By telling me to deal with it after again simply stating an opinion are you now not the one being a little bit rude?

So Tomas can literally tell me to "bite me" https://www.startersorders.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=163785#p163785 and none of the mods or developer jump on that but this one you call out? Because I thought Tomas was being kind of rude.

Not to mention if you think he's being rude, you can just say that without adding the "make your own game if you think you're so good" comment. Because that's not the sort of advice that calms things down. I've also been told that on these forums before and I couldn't remember who said it to me but I now have a feeling it might have been you, Sirius.

Though I think Logan might have made the wrong association from the V files, they sound like they're Virtual Pascal files, a 16- and 32-bit IDE that was released in 2004 and is discontinued now, because modern games and software are 64-bit. Which, you know, still implies that the files have been passed through the generations of the game, which is also implied by the fact that some of the schedule files reference racecourses that Mark took out of the game in older versions and then didn't change the schedule file. There was an opportunity to port and modernise the game when the version changed and it's unfortunate it wasn't taken. Hopefully that's part of the rewrite of the engine for Android.

No one should have the rights to do what logan did to any author's game, I stand with SiriusChill, and what he said, good on you mate for standing up for mark and the game SiriusChill.

Once again showing your ignorance of other gamers, Tomas. Adjusting the files of a game is called modding and it's done on pretty much every game it can be, sometimes with tools that aren't sanctioned by the developer of the game. Modifying the amount of starting money you have is a common mod in management games, if it's not an option in-game. And if Logan didn't have the right to try looking at the files and make changes, neither would you with your modded schedule Tomas.

Certain files are protected as changing then is likely to cause the game to behave unexpectedly and/or crash.

As for the V file it's a voice file for the text to speech API provided by a third party and nothing to do with HDL.
