Maybe run a few comps' that are open to 105 and above or 105 to 115 or 120 with a finals race later in the season. Maybe have sprint, miler, middle distance and stayers comp.

Also maybe look at last seasons flat table and see just how many winners the trainers who were under the top 5 (the middle group)- and see how many wins and placing they got through the season.

Drew a blank on the Flat but my good start to the season in the NHC continued
with 3 winners

Rozza Motta impressively won the 3m2 novice chase by almost 3 lengths
Kirk Douglas won the 3 mile novice hurdle he just held on by a head
Sally Army stayed on very strongly to win the 2 mile maiden chase by a length

after week one 8/30 NHC horses have won and 2/20 in the UKRA Have won its a lovely start but
not expecting to stay at the top for long

thanks to the team congrats to all the winners and placers
great comms as always

best of luck for week 2 and remember never give up

Great to back even though I have limited team this year.

A great 2nd for Ledbury in the 3m hurdle was the best effort.

Well done to all the team, you all do a fantastic job

Post Re: Weekly Reaction
I won my first money in a flat race today, a whopping £250 for 5th place in race 23. The rest of my flat team ran as expected, the last half of the field.

I fared better in the jumps with a 3rd place in race 16 and a 5th place in race 22.

There was a big disapointment in race 29. Enemy Below won 2 out of every 3 trial races I ran at home and I thought he would be my best horse in the league this season, but he never even got into the race and finished 15th. He will get one more chance next week to prove himself, or it is retirement in week 5 for him.

Overall, it has been a nice start to the season over fences with 1 x 1st, 1 x 2nd, 2 x 3rd, 2 x 4th and 2 x 5th.

If I can keep this kind of form up over the whole season I will be well pleased as I took the summer off from playing SO6 to concentrate on my golf handicap which I got down from 10 to 8. Serious breeding only started again about six weeks ago when it got too dark at nights to play golf.

Finally, congrats to all winners and also to those who just took part for the fun of it. Great comms as usual, keep up the good work.

I'm shocked at how well my flat team done, all but one horse made the top 3 and the horse that finished 6th made up 10 L in the last 2 furlongs. I had 9 seconds but whatever happens I'm just going to enjoy this season. This is a great realise from the outside world plus I'm not chasing to be top any more ( it can devour u) and the game becomes less fun, my motto these days is just enjoy doing things u like to do.

My jumpers don't look very good this season so it could be fun trying to plot some coups in the bigger H'caps.

Great job by the commentators this week. Congrats to all the winners this week.

im the same but the other way round spent ages on my flat team and my jumps team are just
bred from last seasons league team with a bit of distance breeding so very little time put in to that side of
it I really was expecting to struggle in NHC it just shows you you never know with this game
last season the staying distances on the flat was the distance i spent the least time on but were by far my
most successful distance next season im doing nothing  its crazy

Paul now u top dog the pressure is on to stay top. :D

Paul I've only just started playing again after 6 months and I'm not chasing anyone to be best any more I'm just going to enjoy playing without the pressure of trying to stay up front. I need more fun in my life after a crappy year.

Thanks Paul much appreciated. My motto is now just enjoy life.

Paul u staying horse( Where to Start) looks a mighty fine stayer. A real danger to all, and some good battle's look in store.

Ps) Boys I've not been around in here a lot over the last few months but does anyone know how Scatters is, I hope everything is alright with him.

I'll send him an email today and see how he is - this is something I've been meaning to do.

I'm with Sirius on the H'capping issue, lowering them for maidens definitely works as the front few will still be rated around 110, too high for most H'capps anyway, but the lower horses get a proper rating, reflective of their ability.

The Graded running horses will then develop their rating higher as the season progresses and the 2nd week is probably the only time they will then be able to run in H'capps, besides the graded H'capps, which are only about late in the season anyway aren't they? When their rating should be up around the 130-40 mark anyway from running in graded races

As for the rest, they're more realistically well rated to go the H'capp route without any issues, an should only get themselves in trouble from poor placement from the trainer then, i.e. entering in a group race when they shouldn't be.

P.S obviously more for next season

As for my stable, I wasn't sure what to expect as I completely changed my breeding tactics from last season. Looks like i may be better with the new breeding, however I only have 2 or 3 gens of it, so will still struggle.

No real excitement, couple of places in Seattle Laughs an Nebraskan Melody, the former was a fair way back in 3rd, an may struggle to be placed now, Nebraskan melody looked the winner entering the final furlong but seemed to just run out of steam. I was surprised by that as it is the 3rd best horse in my trials and was only entered to go down the H'capp route. This is very unlikely now

Amazing job guys, I take my hat off to all involved.

I was around in the early years when the league was pretty good, but it's a great slick set up now and the comms were excellent. Well done and thanks.

I only uploaded NH horses and, with one glaring exception, they performed exactly how I deserved after not putting anywhere near enough work into them!!

15 duck eggs from 19 runners was a great effort!

That exception was City Press and needless to say he's a game bred not a product of my clearly awful breeding attempts. He won the 4 miler quite nicely but has almost certainly blown his mark for being competitive in the Grand National!

Paul
