Season Summary
Bit of heartache and disappointment aside, it would be churlish to consider this as anything other than a major success so far and unquestionally my best season. Targets were a G1 over the jumps and a G race of any sort on the Flat, having not previously won one. My flat team have well exceeded expectations and with two G1's from Pumpkin and Mocha Latte; anything else is a bonus. The Jump team have not been as good as I had hoped thus far, but a G1 from Kingdom of Titans is still a major milestone. A quick round of jump focussed breeding and trailing seems to have offered some improvement.
Flat Team
Out
3YO Charles Vane - Not a bad showing, but my 3yo's are still behind the curve, could feature at 4yo 3YO Punters Fancy - Disappointing 3YO Guilty Pleasures - Not awful but still off the pace, may feature at 4yo 2YO Heartbreak Legend - Nothing to choose between her and Two Bites, don't need two in the same range 5YO Whole Nine Yards - My 1m colts are struggling, I have a minor improvement
In
2YO Change of Position - Good looking fillie, will cover the 1m bracket maybe up to 1.2m 2YO Princess Nina - Have high hopes for this girl has a little Chess in her breeding which is no bad thing, 1.2m range 5YO Spin Spin Sugar - Will be an improvement on the whole nine yards, but not much, handicaper 5YO Chocolate Brownie - Convert from the jumps team who had been chasing, based on stable form of pumpkin she could be group class 5YO Departure Point - Decent sort, fills a distance gap at 1.6m likely only a handicapper
Jump
Out
5YO Fallen Halleujah - Bumper horse who did not thrill me much, can be covered by others so gives me a slot 5YO Chocolate Brownie - Expecting my jumpers to be better than my flat horses, I figured she'd be more use here, is tip top on flat trials. Seems I overdid the flat breeding with 2 unexpected G1's, so she has to switch to what maybe my stronger team. 5YO Reflected Estate - Huge disappointment, had expected so much more, but several falls on hurdles and some bad runs and it time to call time 5YO Burning Saints - Have too many 2m hurdlers she was the worse on form and trails, so gives me a slot 5YO Frozen Kingdom - Good sort in trial, but has the pull up curse ever lingering and with The Wraith, I do not need two doing that
In
5YO Kingdom of Hate - Next generation of my 2m hurdlers, trails form says she knocks G1 winner Kingdom of Titans (her dad) down to 7th on the list. High Hopes 5YO In Estate of Decline - From Reflected Estate above which is troubling, but mixed with a solid sire, soft loving hurdler who also chases well, will hopefully improve on my 2.4m Novice class 5YO Sympathy For The Devil - Please allow me to introduce......the best 3m Hurdler I have ever trained. Not sure if he will be good enough here, but instant world hurdler for my team 5YO Law of Consequence - This 2.4m chaser is another who represents a major leap forward, have very high hopes and aspirations of the Ryanair 6YO Chasing Dreams - Gives me minor improvement at 3m to 3.4m range. Still have faith in the wraith for the gold cup, so here to improve the novices
