 New League - September

Hurricane,
I agree with the two furlong spread for horses of eleven furlongs and upwards.
Nine and ten furlong horses should still be 1 furlong split.

Furlong,
I am trying to propose something that will stop manipulation, these things need to be in place before the grand opening on April 1st 2014. :)

Just for the record guys,

The whole president election was handled extremely badly as far as I was concerned.

For me it was a no brainer.
I had plans for the UK league, Rich had some interesting plans for the US and the NHC was up for grabs if Paul decided to call it a day. I was only really interested in the UK league.

I was very disappointed with the reaction of some members towards my stand for president the last straw being the one or two people who threw the newsletter back in my face as a reason for NOT being president. I swear I nearly threw the lap top through the window after reading that comment after all the time I put in to make that happen.

However, the main annoyance for me was the way Jim Cougar made a complete pigs ear of the whole thing. Taking two weeks to make a decision I could have made in two minutes.
But that has always been the Jim Cougar way pomp and ceremony and making everyone dance to his tune.
I wasn't prepared to do that.
His ramblings about what makes a great leader beggared belief in the arrogance stakes.

I have absolutely no wish to do anything for the league as long as he stays in his position regardless of any good things he has done, and I am sure he has done a lot to help the Starters Orders community.

Maybe he has taken the community as far as he can and it is time for a new face to take charge.

End of story really.

Starters Orders 5 will be out before the "NEW LEAGUE" starts at this rate, If i were Steve, I would feel very, very, very bitter about what went on in june, what some forum users said about him after all the hardwork he put into the league/Newsletter etc was a disgrace , where are these peeps now.....including Mr president, He's like the bloody scarlet pimpernel!!!

I personally think Steve and HR should have got their heads together, their passion for the league is obvious and I know they would have had it up and running by now. (Not a dig at rich, just my personal opinion)

Anyway good luck guys, hope it gets going soon, i can see how passionate a couple of ya still are and it was a great laugh to be involved in, I just dont think the hardcore of league fans are not here anymore to make it work........

I totally agree with you Scotty. It's a shame. The new players are being put off because there is so little info out there, and nobody really (except Hurricane who knows as much as the rest of us) wanting to help them out much (nothing against you Hurricane, but it is kind of true). The old players have stated they won't have anything to do with it anymore. Plus quite a few of the players in between (me included) were and still are in shock about the way the presidency was decided and dictated to us and the way we were expected to sit down and accept it.

I've said before, in the end Steve didn't help himself, but that was after some of the new and old players had been unnecessarily nasty to him. I was surprised to see some of the players who had declared they wouldn't run in the league anymore joining in the slanging match. In fact I was surprised, that after all the help he'd given me, and all the work that must have gone into those newsletters that people would say things like that at all. I didn't vote in the elusive poll, but I wish I had. I would have voted for Steve which would have put him equal with Rich, I don't think it would have made much difference, but you never know.

I hope you get it up and running. But my feeling now is that there is too much bitterness still floating around for it to work the way it has. Maybe waiting for SO5 is the way to go?? OR all those who want the league to get under way get volunteering and hopefully you'll have the league you dreamed of.

stick around scotty mate, it'l get back to where it was and get even better i reckon!!

thing is steve though mate, it wasnt ever an election. you put forward your ideas for what you would do , but not really considered - thats not how it worked. i wasnt around to know how it has worked in the past, but i know that this wasnt an election. it wasnt a case of everyone wanting the position putting forward their ideas and plans for every trainer to vote - the poll that was doen in now way reflected what an actual election would of been like. Would it be better to have an election brought in in the future - maybe??

i dont know who threw the newsletters in your face mate, but that isnt fair because i know how hard you worked on those because doing a couple of previews took me ages. and you know ive spoken to you personally before about you wanting to quit the league!!

anyway guys, as has been said. the game is still going, rich is the pres, and the league should resume soon. we should forget the past few months and move forward!!

In reply to your comment about JC. Steve is nothing like him. JC disrupted posts and upset people by over-reacting to what other people had said and then getting angry when Mike and I (as moderators) had to take actions to delete his posts. In the end he was banned because of his continued (and very prolonged) disruptions to this forum. Unfortunately, as I'm sure you know, as I'm sure you've asked him yourself, Mark will not allow a break away league.

How do you do that HR, when even if we all forget the past things are not going to change bud, look at how we get treated! like we all are non existant! no news, no communication, kept in the dark like we are nothing and no one, yet we supposed to play the game for the league only to get this at the end, it's disheartening.

The league needs more people like Hurricane. But I just think, that after what has gone on, that there aren't many left. If any, except Hurricane. I'm sure he won't mind too much though, if he's the only one in it, he's guaranteed to win the championship!

Oh but wait, I'm forgetting Luke's BEASTS, hmmmm maybe you'll have to settle for 2nd/2 Hurricane...

In addition, you're right Hurricane it was never up to the people participating in the league to make the choice. If I remember rightly it was Steve who opened the poll, (maybe I don't remember rightly, I'm not so sure now)... Which actually makes this even more of a dictatorship. Well, minus the dictator.

I'll be very interested to watch what happens with this. Oh and have my input now and then.

lol scarlet pimpernel

Good to see the EPW fanclub out in full force, or at least the duplicate accounts of the only member.

Handicap abuse is obvious and the three run limit should prove enough. It also gets around a horse getting trouble in running and then going off a ridiculously low mark.

What I don't understand is that people that won't be joining the new league have such big opinion on how the league should or shouldn't be ran.

OK Kenny no more ideas from me. The three run rule will not work for reasons stated above. But then who am I to state an opinion.
Over to you.
