Good posts Kenny and E.P.W. Agree with the horse placements having to be considered more rather then just throwing horses in races for the sake of it!

Hopefully we will see horses appear again the season after with the limited stable we will all have. Good Stuff.

max stable: ?
transfers: ?
retirements: ?

Do you know the figures yet Rich for this so we can work out what horses we want to have in what distances and ages?

No, youre just going to have to upload your best and hope I agree on the distances, £20 ought to do it

I will look at the maidens through the season, I understand that horses uploaded later, or trainers joining later may be disadvantaged (in handicaps only) but to be honest, I'd like to reward the guys who have stuck with us for the whole season. Like banded races, I'll see how the turnout goes.

£20 quid in the post and don`t say you didn`t get it or I`ll have to send the lads round.
So far so good as far as I`m concerned, can`t wait to get started with my little stable, only got a 2m hurdler and a 2m chaser so far but better than it was looking at the start of last season so...
Will definately have a better 2m4f chaser than Cannibal this season just not sure he/she won`t have a better name.
Is it just me or is there still a big lack of 4m+ horses in the game, I suppose it`s just me. Oh well I`m not winning any nationals. :(
But as usuall I will have a nice sprinter knocking about somewhere lol.

Anyways, it`s all looking good, nice to see it`s all green light from here and hope the maiden races aren`t going to be problem, shouldn`t be after last season where races were added at the last minute when needed.

Good Luck to all.

Sorry mate missed this.

Currently I'm starting with 15 in the stable, retirements will total 6-8 for the season depending on how much the stable size increases (although I quite like the idea of keeping the stable size low but giving people more opportunity to retire them, rather than top trainers gradually competing in every race in the season rather than sticking to the elite races). Transfers will probably be limited to 2 or 3.

I think Rich said somewhere that it would be available at least a week befiore start.

Is that still the case Rich?

Don't know about a spreadsheet but TOM will be updated a week before the racing begins. I'll gradually change them, I want to work through the season carefully to make sure there are no major hiccups.

Rich, at the beginning of the season it is quite reasonable that a trainer would have 3yo colts and fillies competeing in 5f, 6f, 7f, 8f, 10f, and 12f races. This means a minimum of at least 12 horses.

Then you add the 5f and 6f 2yo horses which means another 4 horses which brings the total to 16 horses.

Then the 4yo+ Group races especially in week three at Meydan for 8f, 10f and 12f and I'm not even including the 9f race. Here another 3 horses. Which brings the total to 19 horses.

All this and not including the races greater than 12f.

So my question is how can the stable size be limited to 15 if we can't represent all the types of races available?

Should it not be nearer to 20 instead?

Cheers.

That's just it, I don't want the top trainers monopolising the first few weeks with the best horses.

If your horses are good, compete at group level.

The stable size will be increasing later on in the season as the variety of group races change. I appreciate it's a bit of a change of format, quite a severe one and I will be keeping a close eye on it but I think this way is more realistic, it will see smarter placement of horses and also give smaller stables a bit more breathing room at the start.

Good time to mention also that many interleague races will stop being so. Horses from USRA won't be able to compete in the English and Irish Guineas for instance. Towards the end of the season we'll see more interleague races where the best of British will meet the Stars and Stripes.

I was thinking of having some major handicaps (long distance) interleague so that NHC stars could participate against UKRA stayers but the problem is if they are only popping over for the occasional race they aren't going to have a flat handicap mark. Something for the future.

Hi Rich,

As an example of my previous post, I would have to sacrifice the 5f and 6f 2yo's to try and be under 15. But in week 3, 4, and 6 there are listed races for 2yo's. Does that mean I can't compete in those?

Also in week 7 there are group 2 races for 2yo's. Does that mean I can't compete in those too?

In week 5 2yo 7f races are introduced. Dose that mean I can't compete in those because of the 15 stable limit?

I hope I haven't jumped the gun here as I know you are still tweaking the schedule, but just trying to think it through logically.

Kind Reagards Rich

John
