I agree with scrapping the restricted races and adding more Handicaps/Grd Handicaps.

This is just a rough week 1 Schedule Mike, i will deffo add some Mares Only Races.

Is there anyway Mark could add a CHATROOM function to the forum? like we used to have in the ORL forum.

I think we have to keep restricted races. I would not still be playing in the league if it wasnt for these races. They are the only races i think some trainers have chances in. I would restrict them to trainers with a certain number of wins rising through the season and new trainers.

The aim is to make it so that there are enough handicaps that will not only exclude the best trainers but also the best horses from competing. As such the lesser horses have an inherently higher chance of winning whilst competing against everyone.

That is the aim, clearly if it doesn't work then we know why!

When will the Upload week be?? Week 5 or 6?

There is going to be a lot of mixed Handicaps after week 2.

First week should be all Maiden Races, then for week 2 am going to mix it up from Maidens/Listed to Grade 2/3 Races. Then after this trainers should have an idea on what to aim there horses in.

What's the plan with the Handicapping rule 2 runs rich or 3.

2 runs would fit in nicely with the shorter season than 3 imo.

Also will all horses be starting on the 100 mark like last season?

Been talking with Paul and we have a good plan for the whole schedule which could turn out to be awesome.

Am just working on Week 2 now.

The old schedule having looked at it had quiet a few 1 stand alone races which i think isn't good.

What we are trying to introduce to the new schedule is a full racecard at varies tracks just like in real life.

For example for week 2 i've added Wincanton/Doncaster/Limerick/Cork, with a full 7 racecard for each meeting.

I think this will work out great if we can balance the Graded/Listed races along with the Maiden/Handicap races.

There will be no restricted races in the UK Flat schedule and no maidens after week 2. Plenty of low class handicaps for less established trainers.

Am not a fan of only having uploads until week 2. It's unrealistic for horses to run 9/10 races in a season imo.

I think week 5/6 would be ideal.

Also for the Championship week i was going to add more G1/G2/G3 Handicap races instead of restricted Races.

The numbers in them last season was very low.

With 0-110 0-120 Handicaps there should be more horses in them.

Well it doesnt really encourage new and small trainers to play in league if they have to challenge big trainers in group races or only compete in handicaps.

I honestly don't believe the small trainers will suffer in anyway.

The NH league is not like the UKRA imo. Any trainer can win a big race on the day.

But if trainers like yourself want them in, maybe thats what we will have to do.

I will speak with Paul later and see what he says, but wants the restricted races gone and introduce more Listed/Handicap races each week.

Would some Condition races be ok to put in, am not sure if it's just Flat racing which have these types but am sure i've seen them over the jumps.

All the ideas for the flat season look really good.

After week 2 no more uploads sounds excellent, All trainers have there stable to play with so any new horses found will be able to be added in the next season which if it is only 12 weeks long should not really bother those who play often and find new blood.

If there are only 12 weeks and X amount of horses uploaded by week 2 then the handicapper should be able to keep a good track of the marks horses are given as they will all be running against each other on a regular basis with no new horses introduced through the season adding to the unknown factor.

Horses upload distance: 1m 2f stated, can aslo run 1m and 1m4f like before but cannot jump a gap from one run to the next sounds good ie 1m run week2 cannot then run over 1m4f untill it has at least ran over 1m 2f in between. May be hard to track thou.

Group 1 races need to be more elite, max 12 runners. So many horses entered in these races that have no chance which then just clutter the field and ruin chances of good Hold up horses. Top 12 in the ratings getting the slots with the possibility of an extra one if two horses tie in the ratings for 12th slot making 13. If it can be introduced trainers with good enough horses to enter two if ratings allow in ANY race! (maidens to group1)

More handicaps is a must, there was just not enough races to go for with your horses, more variety in the 50-65, 65-80 and so on up to 0-110 would be a great addition, are the ratings open to a challenge from a trainer as there is always the chance with so many horses they may make a mistake/over look one , once handicappers are decided maybe a email set up to post your questions to, handicapper can deal with trainer personally and give the reason why its like it is with the answer they give being final!!! No Arguments!!!

Are all the new schedule ideas going to be able to be implemented in TOM?
