Haha, I wouldn't put it against them, if they did pull him out it would be a disgrace and they should be shamed. Snow Fairy is being written off way too much as well and if 8 stay in I'll be having a bit on her e/w!

Why would they pull him out (unless, of course, the colt isn't 110%) when they have the beating of SYT on a line of form through Rewilding?

Let's not forget, this will only be the seventh race of Sefton's life - he is the one with the scope to improve further still!

Why should they be ashamed? No way 8 will run. Be careful on your EW terms. Even though it is currently an "Ante Post" market several bookies are shamefully betting ew 1,2.

Scandalous.

Because the ground may well be lightning quick, which connections would surely hope to avoid. OPlus with Frankel going for the Sussex, Workforce still has the Juddmonte and Irish champion as his 10f options later on.

If they pull Workforce out of a clash with SYT it's a disgrace, it's the race racing wants to see, a world class horse should be able to handle any ground. PERIOD!

Why would you risk a horses career and potentially life for the sake of just one race.

There are many other opportunities these pair can meet throughout the season, and we know it as fact that Workforce isn't anywhere near as potent on fast ground.

I don't think it's life would be at risk running on firmish ground lol, which won't even be that bad after the storms today! I've had enough of the Workforce excuses and the multiple ones that will be brought up when SYT smashes it into oblivion on any ground! (Going is infact Good atm after the storms we had today, he has no excuses now!)

Just everything I hear, can't run on fast ground apparently? Isn't best over 10f? Poor stable form? As you said why would they pull him out, it's like people are banging out the excuses before he's even been beaten! he may have the beating through a form with Rewilding, but 1: Completely different animal than the Derby one, Improved for 4, won a G1 on reappearance then won a G1 over 10f (not optimum), definite improvement of at least 5-10 lengths on 3YO form, I.e. distance from Jan Vermeer in Derby/POW (hard to say that though as used as p/maker). 2: I think SYT is class because of pure versatility, will win G1's on any ground! Why should workforce have that excuse when SYT can win on anything, Workforce should be able to win on anything if it was "class". I'd also like to see Stoute run Workforce 3 times in 10 days and stepping it up to 2m after running over 1m earlier in season. I define class by beating opposition over any trip, any ground.

An example to back my claims:

SYT is CLASS because: won over 7/9/10/11f and placed at 16f
Won Group events over 7/9/10/11f
Won on Soft/GS/Good/GF - Trainer took responsibility for loss, not a good show and had no excuses

Workforce has done exactly the same by winning over 7/10/12
Soft-Good/Firm - YET there are excuses flying around before he has even ran that he can't win on firm so shouldn't race (never ran on firm, ground was gd/gd-fm at Ascot. If he loses there will also be people giving excuses that he can't perform properly over 10f when that is proven that he can.

I just want people to stop flinging excuses out for Workforce before he's even raced! he should show up on Saturday NO EXCUSES, had enough time to get fit/no injury reports/Class horses should run on ANY ground (will be best ground for both of them on Saturday as it looks)

Just want to see a good race and SYT show the class it really is!

Quick Review of the race from me:

This is how i see the running order:

Front: Confront, Alexander Pope, Jan Vermeer

:These 3 are all there to prove a true stamina test which is surely the stupid thing O'brien can do:/ surely he realises that SYT is a quicker horse then workforce? And that a staright out sprint would actually quite suit his horse. The only reason for 2 pacemakers is that they view Snow Fairy as a big danger and are i guess hoping to beat her through stamina?? The only thing i can think off really i have been looking at this for 2 hours now and reading all SYT running comments he quickens clear at the end so to beat WF and SF through stamina seems odd but really what do i know??

Following: Cape Blanco

Only here cause Fitri Hay owns it if coolmore had majority share wouldn't be running here.

Mid: So You Think Workforce

Probably with SYT following workforce ready to quicken clear thinking Moore may try and steal an early kick maybe 3f to go just to try and make it a stamina test?? SYT (which i am told on good aurthority Steven Arnold has put his services forward to ride) probably just has to follow and quicken in Aus he usually hit the front 1.5f to go at Ascot it was 3f to go so with Workforce to attack could be deadly.

Back: Sri Putra, Snow Fairy

I can alsomost see Sri Putra coming in a 7l 4th without anyone noticing already great horse for picking up prizemoney.

SF is very intresting though i'm guessing Eddie Ahern will ride either him or Hughes so she will be pitched last and come with a run will be intresting to watch her if WF and SYT go say 3f to go because she has the talent to go past if they get tired from a battle but i don't know if i can see it.

Final Results:

1st So You Think (Wins by a length or 2 with a patient ride)
2nd Workforce (Too slow to catch SYT when he accelrates clear 1f out)
3rd Snow Fairy(2l off the front 2 staying on as always)
4th Sri Putra(Stays on without anyone noticing)
5th Cape Blanco(Weakens out late after taking it up 4f out)
6th Pacemaker
7th Pacemaer
8th Pacemaker

Should be intresting but really O'Brien 2 pacemakers!! it's not needed.

This would never happen in Europe, as there is very little money in staying races, compared to middle distance races. The only reason many middle-distance horses step up to 2 miles in Australia is because the Melbourne Cup is by far their most valuable race. If Europe's most valuable race was over 2-miles I'm sure quite a few of our middle-distance horses would step up to that distance more often, and many of them would probably prove themselves to be just as good as the specialist stayers.

Yes, of course there will be excuses if Workforce loses, just as there were countless excuses when SYT lost at Ascot. I seem to remember the excuses you gave for SYT's loss were that it was "out of season for Australian racing" and that he'd been "on the go the whole time" and probably hadn't had time to recover from his journey over here yet (despite the fact that this didn't seem to cause him any problems in his first two races over here).

Personally, I think if O'Brien gets his tactics right with SYT this time (the "not having him fit enough" excuse was frankly pathetic), he will probably have the edge over Workforce at 10f, but it might be a different story if they meet again later in the season over 12f, perhaps at Longchamp. Yes, Workforce has proven that he can run well over 10f, but his two best performances have been over 12f.

When I said no excuses I meant SYT was beaten fair and square no excuses, not that no excuses were chucked around as they're obviously were, yes I did fling some "possible" excuses out over why SYT got beat but only my opinion and they might not have any effect at all!

The point I am trying to make is general is that people are making excuses for workforce before it has even run! I made the point that both horses have won over multiple distances and grounds and so if both horses are fit with no injury worries then whoever wins this weekend, is the better horse fair and square (especially with workforce already having course form which may hand him the edge!). All I was saying was that it would be a disgrace if they took him out when they have absolutely no reason to! IMO

Confront will be in the race as a pacemaker for the field. Jan Vermeer will be there as a pacemaker specifically for SYT. This is very important, Jan Vermeer was never meant to set a stamina testing pace he was simply meant to be the lead out horse for SYT. For some reason people assume pacemaker = fast pace.

This was the plan before but unfortunately O'Brien's kid got it wrong and went off too quickly. He's young and inexperienced and lost his cool when JV missed the break. If they get it right this time then So You Think will win.

Workforce hasn’t been making excuses though, they are clearly gearing up for an Autumn campaign with the BC Turf and Arc being the chief targets. That’s the reason I’ll oppose him on Saturday although if he wins I will be mightily impressed.
