Re: Frankel vs Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes?
panther wrote: Realistically, it was never going to happen. Black Caviar would have very little to gain from taking on Frankel over 1 mile, especially so soon after the July Cup.
Of Peter Moody's misinformed comment about the idea of the £1m Sussex Stakes clash though - "''We race for that sort of money all the time. It is a big race for them, not for us", I don't know where he's getting his conversion rates, as there aren't any sprint or mile weight-for-age races for older horses in Australia that are worth anywhere near £1 million. BC's two main targets in the Spring Carnival - the Manikato and Patinack Classic - are worth less than that combined. Doesn't want to admit he's scared!

Re: Frankel vs Black Caviar in the Sussex Stakes?
I agree Ubar but Black Caviar isn't just the usual multiple group 1 winner either, she is a sprinting phenomenon and I think, over their respective distances, they would beat each other and as their distances are relatively far apart (sprinting a diff game to mile-middle distance) a match race is very unlikely!!

Absolutely NO chance of it happening - and it's frankly unfair and foolhardy to expect Black Caviar to race over 1m.
BTW - Black Caviar is the superior horse.

Frankel's wins in the 2000 Guineas, Sussex Stakes and QEII Stakes were truly outstanding, thrashing multiple G1 winners with ease in the Sussex and QEII. Rock Of Gibraltar was a great horse, but his wins were not as impressive, and were also in weaker races.

I would also say his st James palace was good as it showed how good he was tht he could win a group 1 of one of the worst rides I have ever seen.

Looking at form lines, would have been a no contest- moonlight cloud a nose behind, beaten several lengths by excelebration who this season has been beaten on average 8 lengths.
