No it's a handicap if a horse says wins of bottom weight he cant be lumped up to group Class it's still Rated as a Handicap although group 1 Handiicap.

Thanks Gray. I ask because I have Romantic Lead who won the T.J Smith G1 Hcp. last year as a 2yo benefiting from a low mark and easy lead. Most likely he is barely group class on his best day. Very strangely at 3 he is very adept at 6 furlongs so I will pick that listed race at Newmarket or if the pace looks soft - the Craven .

I don't think it rolls over to the other year anyway.

Surely a Group winner keeps its penalty throughout its league career?

But if u going to have a penalty then it would i think stop people from putting there old horses in, its hard enough for the old horses to compete against the new ones but having a penalty would make it impossible to compete. Someone said last season that they wouldn't carry over, I think it was Leon, sorry if im wrong Leon but I know someone said it.

Post Re: Flat : Talk Reaction Banter
Well week 1 is over and I am pleasantly surprised how well my stable ran.

I didn't enter a flat team last season and this years team is only 1 generation removed from my season 1 team. I have only 10 horses in my flat stable and before any of them had run in week 1, I was not expecting much from them, thought I might be compettetive in some handicap races, but I had

1 x 3rd
3 x 4ths
2 x 5ths
1 x 6th
3 x 7ths

Unfortuneately now, most of my horses are not good enough for group races, but too well handicapped for the lesser races.

A G1 winner, not G1 handicap, should have to carry a penalty in a G2/3 or listed race.

Meydan could not have gone worse a shocking day :?

Race 1 Fandangled ran poorly was right up there but faded at end 6th

Race 2 Master Artist was trapped out wide but still a disappointing run in 6th

Race 3 The Greek Gods Just about held on for some prize money 5th

Race 4 Rooney better run today but only 5th

Race 5 McCormick shockingly bad 8th

Race 6 Rough Number 6th

Race 8 Flemmington Flyer 2nd at last a positive out of a poor day winner was awesome though

Race 10 Galicktyne WINNER holy god what a run almost made all impressive bright end to a miserable day

Darn good day 1 on week 2

1. Scallion - A surprising third. Benefited from a slow pace. If you take the time and scope out the pace of a race you can come up with some nice placings. He's not very good but was loving the slow pace and the dirt.

2. Spin Zone - Ran wide. Encountered trouble. Closer with a better trip. Surprising me with his ability.

5. Take Notice - Garrrrr!!! She needed a slower pace and got it BUT she also prefers to rate just off the leader. She inherited the lead which took just enough out of her in the final furlong. What a race and am pleased she ran like I thought she would.

9. Drinks Are On Me - Low weight and easy pace and affinity for the track allowed her to run a solid second. A toast though to Bermenstein for getting his first league winner!

-----------------------------

Each week when I have multiple choices to put in races I trial the horses (with my rejects) quickly at the course and conditions to find out which horse is better at that certain condition. It's with one of these trials that I found out Drinks Are On Me has an affinity for Epsom. Does anyone else do this? Helps to pick the right spots when you have a majority of subpar horses.

Zakhm (R2) very pleased with this win. He is nowhere near my best horses as a 3yo but I didn't breed many 4yo and he was the best of what I had. Went well at Meydan in trials so his first run last week wasn't too worrying. Glad he got the job done.

Skivecia (R3) another brilliant display. Beaten last time up she was a class above today, booting on and holding off all comers with an authoritative display.

Fastnet Rock (R4) another victory! He isn't anywhere near my 9-10f 3yo's but similar to Zakhm he was bred a long time ago and was best of my older horses around Meydan. He was uploaded for this and will probably not run again now, will have to wait and see.

Zero Games (R5) ran a stoic race in defeat, looking like coming through to throw down a massive effort in closing stages of the race but Ghost's horse was just too classy on the day, a well deserved victory - well done mate.

Storm The Skies (R6) ran much better than I expected, he isn't going to do much in the league given his racing style of being flat out throughout but pleased with the way he stuck to his guns narrowly being denied by the winner. A pleasing effort in defeat!

Smarty Jones (R7) was bred and uploaded with this race in mind, and I might keep him in for something like the Sandown Mile/Lockinge perhaps but will see how that goes as he's much better on dirt. Good effort to fend off all challengers and a pleasing win from a horse I'd bred to want further but ultimately ended up being a miler.

4 winners and 2 seconds though, can't grumble at that at all.

No winners but some nice prize Money

Race 3 Whistling Tiger Last i put this down to not being dirt bred and should of never entered it.
Race 4 Cwm Bargoed 3rd stayed on well but trip too short it was on turf so i had to go for this race pleased with third back up in trip next week but may bypass Kentucky Derby as he's not dirt bred.
Race 6 Milk Heart 6th well outclassed back to handicapping.
Race 7 Maid Of Orleans 5th came for Prize Money just grabbed 13,000.
Race 8 Clutterbuck 3rd Drum taps is just pure class just not good enough.

Yipee!! A first winner for me!!!!!!

A 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd in week 2.

My lovely SNOBERT coming 2nd to J Taylors Zakhm in the Dubai Sheema 1m4f G1 Classic. Chuffed with that as Snobert was my Only ever British Tripple crown winner I've had playing in game. :)

And one of Snobert's progeny, SNOBURY winning my first ever SO online league race, be it a handicap, the Epsom Investec Insurance, by 2 3/4 lengths in a time of 2.04.87 on good ground, carrying 8st8llbs. :) Chuffed to bits with that indeed :)

And a 3rd in the Epsom Mile Maiden, SON OF A GUN.

Makes it all worth while now.

Congrats to all other winners and placers :)

No winners but picked up loads of prize money

R1 - Point Blank - 5th - This was too short for my oaks horse but ran on well for 5th
R2 - Cabaret - 2nd - Winner was too good
R5 - Pirate of Caribbean - 5th - Sneaked into prize money - Wasn't good enough
R7 - Astral Travel - 4th - Never managed to close ground

The rest were all down the field
