I have a very vague memory of Peter Walwyn training one (can't think of the name) who won by a country mile on debut around 1976/77 resulting in Pat Eddery claiming it was the best horse he'd ever sat on only for it to sink without trace on its 2nd start.
Leonardo Da Vinci - never raced at 2 but won the Wood Ditton first time out and then the White Rose by 10 lengths. Then finished 7 and a half lengths at long odds on behind Shirley Heights in the Dante. Then flopped again in September Stakes and got packed off to US.
