Post Are the auction horses at the beginning any good?
Hi guyz,
I've been playing this game solidly for a while now. Its amazing!
I was just wondering whether or not auction horses at the beginning of the season are very good?

I breed and have had sum good GG's already. Just haven't noticed many good auction gee geez

Cheers

Well Redeyez, in the early seasons of the game you could strike it lucky by picking yourself up a not to bad GG's as you call them, if you pay around the 450,000 mark, I know I did in season two, I paid 474,000 for this 10f filly GG and       , sorry mate but the GG got me this time where it hurts    no Honestly mate 450,000 should get you a beauty trust me.

only pay for the 2yo's who cost £400.000+ dont pay less for them with the pricey ones you have some chance of finding a g1 winner i bought best mate a 2yo 1m2f horse he won 2 legs of the triple crown at 3 and produced loads of great horses out of stud including 3 triple crown winners at the start it really is the only option (buying 2yo in aution) you have to start somewhere

is it best to just buy the ones prices 400plus or the ones that have a reserve near 400000. or does the reserve price in relation to the guide price not even matter?

Just proves this game is all wrong,in real life a horse of Richard Hannon wins a group 2 which only cost 26000 and here you are saying that only 400000+ will win you a group race. How unreal is this.

In real life top 2yo's go for way over £400k, and Group 2 winning stallions can make fortunes in stud rights over the course of their breeding career, which would easily exceed their career prize money from racing.

The game is more realistic than you think it is. :)

Also if you think about it if all the players are buying horses that are go for 400K+ then they never know where all the others go so unless they write all the names down and track them through the seasons for all they know some of the cheaper ones could be winning the top races too.

I have bought a few from the autions and they are okay if your just wanting to win a few races and a bit of money i think my highest rated one from the auction is around 90.

About 10 seasons ago, I bought a 2yo Colt, named Annouce who went on to win 15 G1's from 2 till 4. Now retired and has Sired over 50 G1 winners.

They can be found!!!

I always buy 3-4 per year, but only the expensive ones.

westy comments are spot on, but you can be lucky and get 1 or 2 good league horses from the auctions.

In the early season when I was only breeding a dozen or so I would buy some 2yo's from the start of season auction, I did find 2 league runners if I remember right this was in seasons 11 and 12

Adelgrunde ran in my UK stable he had 3 starts all at Group 1, 3rd in the Irish 2000, 4th in the St James Palace and 4th in the All-Age stakes.

Wilming ran in my US stable he had 4 starts, 1st in a maiden on his first run then 4th in a Group 2 from a bad draw, he went on to win a G1 hcp on his third start and on his final outing he finished 2nd in a Group 1.

I think I was very very lucky finding these 2 horses, now that I'm breeding 30 to 35 horses a season I don't buy from the auctions but I am tempted to buy 1 or 2 from time to time, now that I'm a Billionaire a million is pocket change.
