Not too sure where the link went to, but, here is the link for the horse.dat database for SO5. http://www.mediafire.com/?0cih3n3wivxku3kNot too sure if it will work in SO4 though and deleted my SO4 so can't get the horse database for that I'm afraid.

 Re: Horse Name Database
I doubt if Kev's SO5 database will work on SO4 as it stands, but if you reduced the database size down to what was in SO4, then maybe it will?

 Re: Horse Name Database
Is the horse name database basically just a name generator?

Once these are exhausted, the game statrs at the top of the list once more. Thats why you will see repeated names over the course of a few seasons in your game.

 Re: Horse Name Database
Download the file, unzip it to your desktop then open the directory that you have saved SO5 to, go to SO5/1/data and then copy the "horses" file you downloaded into this directory. You'll need to start a new game for the names to take effect.
This works for the UK game as "1" is the folder for the UK, if you are using another country, then change the number accordingly.

The names are repeated after just four or five seasons? That's unfortunate. Any manual adjustments that might prevent this? I was hoping to create an extensive history without "repeats" as I have in other sports sims

 Re: Horse Name Database
Not possible I'm afraid. Set number of horses (16,076) with around 4,000 in play per season, hence the repeats over the course of time. Sorry.

 Re: Horse Name Database
Yeah it is a shame, we need at least in my opinion 50,000 names then again that could be too less. A million would suffice anyone care to manually name every one for SO6...anyone???
