Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
Super Cat and Tele there are some good ideas in there if TOM could handle it, I like the sales idea because newbie's could join without having to put in stupid amount of time and still have a shot at the big time. Perhaps have a sale before the season starts. Post a pic of the horse and his racing career and some information about the horse then it would be up to other people then if they want to bid for him.

Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
wow was away yesterday and came back to a thread been opened on online league which has been dead for a while.
As for the Original idea Teleprompter came up with would the strong players not just get stronger. if Jamie could cover Ghosts Mares would that not make them even stronger i think it would make it even tougher for trainers who have less time to spend on putting a team together or newbies who may not know exactly what goes into putting a team together.
I Liked Matts idea at the time but TBH our horses would be superior to the horses that Mark could make available maybe apart from Frankel. Looking at it selfishly but honestly I Know there are plenty of trainers that have already put alot of time into there teams already i know if it was not for (A POTENTIAL) League i would have quit SO6 ages ago and its the league that keeps me playing the ONLY reason really.
I Am All for making it a more level playing field but you also have to understand not everybody is trustworthy or honest And as Supercat says we have to be very careful with what direction we go in as you could be opening a huge can of worms.
the only other thing i can recommend you upload 20 horses 5 randomly go into a lotto and get spread between the other trainers and you get 5 from other trainers some sort of lottery draw so you end up with 15 of your own horses and 5 that you win in the lotto draw that would give everyone a chance of getting a decent horse and would level out the teams but would not be too damaging to the top trainers and a newbie could get my best derby horse in the draw i like the idea of that. I would still get great enjoyment of breeding a derby winner no matter who trains it.

Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
Lottery Idea
Flat Team 1) You Upload your flat team of 20 horses as usual 2) 5 get randomly selected leaving you with 15 3) All of the randomly selected horses go into a big pot and a Random draw takes place 4) You Receive 5 horses that you won in the Draw 5) Leaving you with a final team of 20 - 15 yours & 5 Won from other trainers
Jumps Team 1) You Upload your jumps team of 30 horses as usual 2) 8 get randomly selected leaving you with 22 3) All of the randomly selected horses go into a big pot and a Random draw takes place 4) You Receive 8 horses that you won in the Draw 5) Leaving you with a final team of 30 - 22 yours & 8 Won from other trainers
This would give all trainers horses of differing levels and gives smaller trainers the chance to get a classic winner or a g1 winner. It would give everyone a shot with out the need for breeding pools

Not sure about this if my Gold Cup or National horse was taken in the 8 and I get nothing of the above back perhaps Ghosts Idea Uploading 30 and you give 5 up and get 5 Back Randomly would be better Paul. Gray

Gray You are then depending on the generosity and honesty of the other trainers for instance i could put up 5 rubbish horses to try and keep some sort of advantage if i was that way inclined where as if you dont get a choice makes its fair all round and thats the risk and beauty of it yes you could loose a Gold Cup Winner or a derby winner. Lets be honest any idea anyone comes up with is going to have holes in it The only other way its not to change a thing.

Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
I have never taken part in a league, but I would like to run my horses and my horses only. I guess I would barely have any shot at a G1, but I want to know how good my horses are. Breeding my own horses to the best standard I can muster and seeing them compete is what attracts me to the online league format so please don't change a thing. I don't want artificial equality as any "win" I would achieve by either breeding with a provided horse or running a provided horse would be hollow. I will take part in whatever format the league will have but I would be really disappointed if measures such as the ones discussed here would be implemented.
As a prospective "also ran" I don't want a helping hand. The only thing I would suggest is another breeding thread where people give away their best breeding tips & tricks. That's as far as I would go to equal the playing field.

Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
cant see that working paul I plan my team to cover almost every distance(as do most trainers) i only have 2 sprinters if i lose both and get back 3 1m horses i could end up with 7 1m horses in my squad.

Re: Breeding & Pre Season, mid season sales?
My breeding strategy has been quite a bit different. Maybe that's why I can't get over 96% realized and absolute potential at 3yo currently. Interesting to see.. I guess I should concentrate on Potential first and go for everything else once I have that basic quality. I really have hit a roadblock at that potential. Everything else is good to great.. but without those 4% I probably won't stand much of a chance. Anybody else that just got "stuck" at 96?
