Good day overall for me, Flawless Victory finally showing something with a 2nd. The Drone Train ran a big race off a tough weight in the 2yo handicap and it looks like he's going over 1m rather than 7f now. Virakip Swift consistent but mediocre.

Huge G2 win for Robotnik who sealed it with a huge jump at the 2nd or 3rd last. He should continue challenging at this level hopefully and Cola Cola continues to improve with a 3rd in the listed hcap hurdle. The rest not worth mentioning as usual but at least i've got 10 or so that can be competitive!

well done all winners and placers.

I'm doing 2nd days handicaps now, still waiting on R4 to be sorted Gray/Leon??

Race of the year nominee - Race 13 The Ascot Hurdle. One of the best races I have ever seen in all of Starters Orders. My horse (Dens World) enjoyed an easy lead for the first half. Then with 6 furlongs left Diamond Great flashes to a huge lead over Dens World still in second. Then with 4 furlongs left Limini flashes to a big lead. Dens World goes back to third. Then Dens World, Cats Quick Draw and Diamond Great re-rally in the final half furlong to draw even with Limini. At the wire and surging big time time around all of the above horses Ciudad Real gets his nose up to beat them all.

I was yelling my horse on and at the wire I was calling "I got it!". Photo comes up and Dens World just missed out. The call with the race was perfect. Great job on that.

On the flat I collected another winner on Monday that was also in a very exciting race. A group placing and the rest also rans.

I followed the big run in the Ascot by winning the next race with Word Perfect whom I thought was talented enough to be a winner. That's my first jumps win this season which means I am well on my way to winning the dual championship.

Edit - I called the race the Ascot Chase but it's the Ascot Hurdle.

Had a shocker with that Race 13. Don't think i called the winner's name until after the winning post  i was so transfixed on the 4 way battle up front

Flat:

How the other half live:

Day 1

Race 01: KAHFRE: 20/20 Well beaten in all four starts to date.
Target is the William Hill Mile Championship Leg 3 @ Kempton in Week 9.
Race 02: MISTER McGOLDRICK: 2/9 Might have to rethink the route for this one after a career best second this week. Better at slightly shorter distances in the game. Dictates from the front and could pinch a race if given enough rope.
Target is the Campbell Handicap @ Ayr in Week 10.
Race 03: EMPEROR: 9/10 Running poorly over optimum conditions although it is early days. Will need further help from the handicapper.
Target is the UBS Goodwood Stakes @ Goodwood in Week 8.
Race 04: UNIVERSAL BIRTH: 11/15 Rated too high after maiden run @ 91. Slipping to decent mark after this performance.
Target is the Coral Handicap Sprint @ Sandown in Week 7.
Race 07: ZAFAONIC STAR: 21/22 Another of the handicappers that is slipping to a competitive mark. Should lose another few pounds after this performance.
Target is the Download Racing Post Handicap @ Doncaster in week 11.

Day 2

Race 13: PIAZZA SAN MARCO: 6/9 Rated in the mid fifties and still can't win. Latest race too far.
Target is the Anglesey Handicap @ The Curragh in Week 10.
Race 15: JERICHO: 2/6 Has run well in defeat this season including this race. Slow pace didn't help so dropping back to seven and a half furlongs.
Target is the Carlisle Bell @ Carlisle in Week 6.
Race 16: NEW ZEALAND: 9/14 Only second race of the campaign. This class is too high. Looking to drop into 0-85 race next.
Target is the Winbig With The Tote Jackpot Nursery @ Pontefract in Week 12.
Race 17: HAL OF A LOVER: 10/16 Probably my best horse but still rated a bit high on 96. Will stay two miles and if I can get his mark below 90 he could win.
Target is the Horse Racing Abroad Handicap @ Longchamp in Week 11.
Race 20: SEEKING MAGIC: 7/7 Front running type who has faded late on in last two races. Should be competitive in 0-85 races dropped slightly in distance.
Target is the Coral Free Bets Handicap @ Wolverhampton in Week 13.

That was a cracker of a finish - you did well to spit some of the names out near the post - probably the closest finish so far!

Not much to get excited about for me on the Flat this week so far, a couple of 5ths thats about it!!

On the NH a good run by Sagamix City but the best has to be by Ciudad Real what a horse he is turning out to be for one of my flat cast offs :) Great finish sweeping past all to nip it on the line

Lets see what tomorrow brings

Colombian Coffee never fell in 20 grand national trials in my CK fell
for the second week in a row he is Rated 114 and if he gets in the
National off that will have a mighty chance just has to jump a clear
round and off that rating will take all the stopping

Flat -

Saracen again proving my 1m4f horses are never up to it! Jet ran a great race, would have cleaned up if it was 4.5f, huge run from Zeo High in 3rd proving my 2yos are quite strong. This was confirmed when Devils Caviar ran a great race when winning the 0-90 and should continue to improve. Swift Picura ran a shocker going wide the whole way, I'm confident there is a race in him.

NHC -

Apollon nowhere in the Hennessy, congrats on your 1-2 PJ, although they both snuck under the handicap radar and may be punished lol! Zeo a great 4th in the G1 Chase, Star zila ran her best race but that's not saying much. The final furlong proved too far for GOTG. Ninja Samurai ran a huge race in the G2 considering it was on the short side, very pleased with that.Key player and cantankerous not up to it as usual but Tanahashi showing improvement in the troy town. Prezilla ran a monster race in 3rd over 2m2f which impressed before Superstardeejay fell away as normal.

Great week all in all, Few wins on the flat and a good G2 and plenty of graded places over the jumps! Well done all winners and places and roll on Royal Ascot. In the past I did previews for a whole Royal Ascot meeting and I may try and do that once again this week!

JJ - that's a little rough - Easy mistake made - I've made a couple...actually a few since I started calling the exhibition races earlier in the year. I thought Mike's call was cool - those close finishes are hard to call and the reason I believe they are hard is that in real life you can see where the finishing line/post is but in the game you can't see it.......I know I am half guessing and waiting for the post to appear in close finishes and then in a split second it's there and you just can't react fast enough.

Actually this has been something I have been meaning to mention for a while now and I will probably start a new thread just on this topic.

Anyway JJ you are having a cracker season and it's cool reading your name out as a winner after a race.

Doug
