Post Re: League Weekly reaction
No flat horses today, but a few in the jumps.

Monday did not live up to my expectations. I had Eagle Feather in race 1 and Numerator Girl in race 5 who I was expecting great things from. They both achieved minor places but never reached a challenging position.

I had one new upload, Stand and Deliver, running in race 3. He performed really well in my trials but ran a disapointing 18th in the race. The only consolation is he should get a decent handicap mark even though it was a G2 race.

I have a question about the commentary. Some of the races in NH had no commentary, even the built in commentary was missing. Is this something new or is it just my old computer playing up again.

The commentary I did hear was excellent. I wish I had the balls to put myself out there for all to hear.

Bad luck with Numerator Girl - she loomed up and I thought she was going to go on with it but not this time.
At least one call that was missing was my mistake - I called the race and I thought I had sent it off but somehow I deleted it - so that was my bad. Also with my time frame I was not able to call all NH on day one and the guys had some issues with the race kit or something like that so I didn't get the race videos til later than usual - so we were all under the pump behind the scenes.
I don't know why there were no AI comms but I guess they just deleted them thinking that I or the other callers will be calling them.

Doug.

R1 Queen Anne Stakes G1 – Battle Star finished 2nd. Muddling race and not sure it would have made a difference as the winner Pour it on trained by J Harrison is just too good. Gutsy effort by my bloke though and hope he will break through for a win soon. Red Hot Chilli by Jalupen also one to watch.

R2 King Stand Stakes G1 – Chortle finished 1st. Very happy with this horse as he has been very consistent over the sprints. Always goes well at Ascot so was confident of a top three finish. He deserved the G1 here. Big effort by Process trained by Jupiter Jimmy and will figure again.

R3 St James Palace Stakes G1 – Big Dreams finished 6th. Poor effort by my fellow. Perhaps didn’t appreciate the slow pace as he runs better with the pace on. Can’t argue with the winner here Musical Stormbash trained by Jalupen a fantastic effort. My horse has had his measure last couple of starts but kudos to the trainer for persisting with him and getting the G1. Nikos Break trained by D Thompson was very game in defeat and next start could be hard to beat.

R4 Coventry Stakes G2 – Apache Cat finished 4th. Others just too good. Well done to the winner Red Strathaird trained by D Thompson. Looks class and Commander and Officer Of The Lodge right up there.

R10 Queen Mary Stakes G2 – Imana finished 2nd. Good effort but the winner Queen Motion trained by J Harrison just too good and looks special.

R12 Norfolk Stakes G2 – Sir Pontos finished 2nd. Beaten by another J Harrison trained horse Noctal but still proud of the effort by my horse. Competition is very good and will be hard to go past some of these classy 2yo’s by the other trainers.

Overall happy with my results on the first day with obviously Chortle being the highlight and Big Dreams being very disappointing.

Ones to follow: Red Strathaird & Queen Motion

It's not your computer, there were no aI comms. One of the commentators requested that they were switched off a couple of weeks ago.

We are trying to get Human coms on all races but we all live busy lifestyles I think its best to run races without the game coms its easier for the callers to do coms without the in game coms going but Mondays race's have less time than other days to get coms hence some jump races didn't get coms today but I rather see 6 races with coms and Doug has done a brilliant job has he done all day 1 races apart from 4 that I did and compared to Doug I might just give up lol.

Flat -

An OK day on the flat, Jet just blew up after setting a furious pace and may drop back to 5, superb run from Tiesto when 2nd in the Royal Hunt Cup... Always believed he was off a reasonable mark coming in to this and finally showed a run that i'd expected from him. Flawless Victory stayed on well in a close Sandringham when 6th. Swift Zip also put in his best run yet just dropping away in the final furlong to finish 6th in the Norfolk.

NHC -

Probably one of my best ever days and my first G1 over the jumps of the season! Key Of Caviar just couldn't go with them in the Fighting Fifth. Tanahashi unseated for the 3rd time, Poor run over too short for Ethiopia Loyal. Then we come to the Henry VIII Novices chase and Simeone just ran them into the ground! Chuffed to get a G1 as wasn't expecting anything over the jumps considering just played 30 seasons on the flat... Shows you don't need to be fancy exporting to pools and looking for bars to be competitive. Had a feeling Cola Cola was well handicapped and continues to run well, but will be punished for it! I couldn't believe the run from Guardian Of The Galaxy who I thought was one of my best at the beginning of the season but showed nothing at all and now won a race leading the whole way! Well pleased. Starzilla ran rubbish as usual, Key Player got round amazingly but rubbish.

Hope you all took note of the previews, think I gave out 5 or 6 winners! - Edit, turns out it was only 3 lol poor form!

ROYAL ASCOT WINNER.
Saint Lucia swoops very late to win the Sandringham off a low mark.

A few 5ths over both codes but disappointed to not be closer in the Grand Sefton as I have an excellent record in that race.

Excellent comms, thanks to all who run the races.

Congrats to all winners

Palpable excitement for my first league runs with my low expectations largely met :)

Jersey Stakes 7f 3yo G3 - Sutton Colt - ran well over 7f as a 2yo, but largely found out as a 3yo and should be better over his preferred mile. Any run right now is good as a mid season joiner.

Winter Novice Hurdle 2.4 G2 - Proffessor Khan - made all as is his style before fading as expected, does not stay beyond 2m but needed a run, another any run will do entry.

Betfred Listed Chase 3.1 - Armoured Transport - Will stay 3.4 but truth be told is not a very good horse, in team by virtue of being my only 3m chaser/hurdler breed that made the year one cut. One to make up the numbers.

It was good to be back.

Ansar finally showed his trial form.

Merry Master a lucky winner but that was the fastest race run over fences that I can remember, my horse couldn't get near the front. And a great call from Doug.

High Knowl got placed again, probably as good as he is.

Eudipe ran ok, my 3+ mile chasers are just average.

Post Re: League Weekly reaction
Great Royal Ascot for me so far.

Hawkwing 1st:

Won his 3rd handicap of the year. The Royal Hunt Cup was the mid season target and he didn't let me down.
Always thought he was a group horse in handicaps all along. Won off a big weight yet again and will be going up in class next.

Process 2nd:

Ran a cracker in the Group 1 Kings Stand Stakes behind Chortle. Didn't lose by much. She's never been out of the first 4 in 5 starts and 4 of them have been in group races. I think the step up to 6f will bring out the best in her. The July Cup has been the main target all season as she loves Newmarket.

Commander 2nd:

Ran an absolute cracking race on its debut in the Group 2 Coventry stakes. Given her hold up style she is bound to meet some trouble in running. Came from the back of the pack to be a very close 2nd. She's better over 5f with a strong pace. Will be looking for a stiff 5f for her next time out but a great debut for her. She's by best 2yo of all time. The winner must be a top horse.

Insidetrackracing.com 3rd:

He was 2nd in two handicaps off big weights. I always thought he was a group horse though. His 3rd in the Group 1 St James Palace stakes was a great run. I think he can win a group 2 or group 3. That's what he'll go for next.

Zaar 3rd:

He ran a great race on debut but it was expected. He's best over a sharp 7f or a stiff 6f. This stiff 7f was just a shade too far for him. He took it up 2f out and shot to the front. He was only just reeled in within the final furlong. There's plenty races in him and I think he could win next time up given the right race conditions.

Baltazaars Commander 4th:

Another debutante who ran a good race. This horse is not one for the faint-hearted. He has to be held up in last and put there on the line at the very last second. The pace was probably not quick enough for him but he made up an awful lot of ground in the final furlong to grab 4th. Could be one for the Super Sprint. He's bound to be there or there about's in every race he goes in.
